Summary

Loads of players injured, Be a while before some get back Coutts sounds fucked, Brayford still a way off returning, sounds like Flynn is as well. And Kennedy they said he's ages away as well.

Sounds frustrated at how many were unfit when he came in (him and most of us)

Wants to get JCR involved when he's fit.

Totally refuted the Harley Deen rumours, says he's a great player but he doesn't know where rumours from and has made no contact.

Some players gonna go out on loan maybe.

Says he hopes we can do some more business in the transfer market but mentioned we have to 'cut our cloth'

Looking forward to the GCB song on Saturday for a derby but its not THE derby.

We've cut our cloth.

Basically if we want to buy, we have to sell first, i wonder who that could be.

Get thi boots of Murphs, tha goin son !

I'll be surprised if hes in the 18 man squad on Saturday, then again he'll probably be an unused sub, because it sounds like we won't be able to put 18 together without him with all them injuries!!

The aftermath of Cloughs time here. A big squad full of mostly injured/unfit players.

How can it be Clough’s fault that there are 10 players currently out injured?
Of those 10 injured players, only Coutts, Kennedy and Cuvelier could be said to have a track record of persistent injury problems.
Of those three, Clough only signed Coutts. Four of the others got injured while playing for Adkins.

Maybe it's just their general lack of fitness due to a lack of fitness work last season?

Well, James Wallace, who is of course the main one, since he was meant to be our midfield general and all, it appears, to save a transfer fee on Coady.

Higdon hasn't been fit at any point since his signing.

Also pushing players that were known to be injured, like Coutts, Done and Flynn past their bodily capacities in meaningless games towards the end of last season (Yeovil etc) has surely exacerbated known problems.

J.Wallace and Higdon aren't currently injured.
Done fell on his collarbone and broke it. Difficult to blame Clough for that one.

We weren't playing "meaningless" games at the end of the season though were we? We had to get enough points to make the play-offs. The outcry if we'd rested some and finished 7th would've been unsurpassed.

Well the quote you were responding to was about players that were both injured and unfit, and the point I was making was that Clough's policy did indeed include signing a lot of known crocks, playing people when they were injured (which is why Coutts and Flynn are injured now), and being unable to get certain players fit.

Yes, Done broke his collarbone under Adkins. He also played games at the end of last season where he was injured under Clough.

My recollection is that prior to the Yeovil game the big talking point were whether we could nick 4th place, not whether we would be in the playoffs or not, and that risking players wasn't advisable if the playoffs were coming up (ie Done).

The blades will rise like the Phoenix from the flames :)

Your recollection is wrong. ;)
We didn't clinch a play off spot until we drew at Orient, 11 days after we played Yeovil.

Done played against Yeovil and wasn't risked again until the play-offs, even though we still needed points.
Flynn played against Yeovil, then 20 minutes against Chesterfield and started in both legs of the play-offs.

I personally saw some of the things he said a little differently or at least I drew some positives as opposed to all negatives.

Kennedy, JCR and Baxter have all been back on the training ground which is great news, Ryan Flynn will hopefully be back on the training ground next week which is great as well. Adkins rightly points out that he has only had 19 players fit to start with, it sounds like we played a good few players who weren't 100% under Clough last year and Adkins looks to put this right as some what of a conditioning expert.

Adkins wants to remain active in the window. Ok he points out that we need to live within our means but the same applies for most clubs outside of the top flight. At least he admits that we need improvements and he is looking to make things happen, certain players might leave in the meantime but I am confident that Adkins is wanting to keep all of his better players and that he will dive into the market at least once more. It may well be another season long loan but if it brings the quality that we require then so be it.

And the main thing for me is that Adkins isn't hiding behind excuses. He admits we aren't good enough or where he wants us to be, he rightly calls us a working progress. His ambitions are the same, he wants this club promoted this year!, he has put his cards on the table and is sticking with them.

I admire his honesty personally and just hope he can get this team together and player football in order to deliver the goods.

I didn't say that we were guaranteed prior to Yeovil, I said that at that point most people thought we would get into them in, line with the balance of probability. That's true.

And it's well known that it was that game in particular that set Done's recovery back, where he was only able to play the second leg in the playoffs. Not that it would have made any difference.

I particularly enjoyed the straight answer he gave about Harlee Dean and how he then joked about going round the house with hos answer if there is some truth to a rumour.

Amongst such an appalling injury list (& can't see how Clough's not to blame on this one, especially bearing in mind NA's clear disappointment at the conditioning of the squad he inherited), it's a minor miracle that James Wallace seems as fit as he does.

Just wonder if 2 games per week is a little too much for him right now, so expecting him to be on the bench on Saturday. But, encouraging even so. Step-by-step with him: just need him to come through his next 90 minutes now (at Peterboro maybe?), then the next...

Could you post the link please........:(

Not sure the OP is quite right. Kennedy a couple of weeks away from a U21 game, brace is off Brayford, though Flynn, Harris, Coutts yet to train and Done out 3 months. But it sounds like Kennedy is by a substantial margin the closest of the bunch to be fit.

Positive appraisal of JCR,expect him to be loaned to Notts county following several match winning performances.

I thought it sounded like Flynn was fairly close, started running but not trained with the first team yet.
Bit worried that 'Baxter's been on the grass'.

Which means he is either taking advantage of the free offer from Microsoft to got to 10 or he has just bought a squeegee from LIDL
Or he's got a night job in Amsterdam's red light district.

Two more injured tonight!
I blame Clough for erm not playing Scougall and Collins much last season.

Injuries are why I've gone on so much about the defence.

If true about Coutts then that's a major blow.

One of the things I liked about Clough was the fact that he seemed to be building a squad that could grow with us as we progressed up the leagues.

The injuries this season seems to point to a failed experiment?

because many of them 'arrived' in the same state.. you didn't mention the other seven ;)

Brayford, Harris, McGahey, JCR, Flynn, Baxter and Done were the other seven.
NONE of them arrived in an injured state and none of them had a track record of persistent injury problems.
