  • good to get a win and be in the next round
  • clearly 2-0 - a thunderbolt of a shot :) (good description Nige)
  • praises Long - commanding in goal
  • Bob - in hospital - facial injury [went off on a stretcher very still and in an oxygen mask - hopefully just precautionary]
  • Che - no malice intended - dubious sending off - came together and he was trying to get away - will read referee's report and look at the incident in the cold light of day [he was very upset on his way off, we got a good look at him and he seemed almost in tears - if it's violent conduct that's three games]
  • good resilience from the team [it was]
  • Billy coming off was tactical - went for a diamond
  • well done to the players, gave it a real good go
  • more praise for Long - decision making, coming to get the ball towards the end [very good, these are areas where his game has developed]
  • Edgar and JCR next week - "don't know" [maybe: I do know but I'm not saying]
  • Jose was missing due to being disciplined - working to get him back in the team
  • who do you want in the third round - just enjoys being in the hat
And some people think this is cliched and uninformative

Billy coming off was tactical - went for a diamond.

The first part of that I believe, it was definitely a tactical substitution, the second part is complete bullshit.

Sharp came off for the very simple tactical reason of him having an absolute nightmare in the first half.

In the last few weeks Sharp's performances have deteriorated as rapidly as Kitsons did a few seasons back, now I know he has other things on his mind which are more important than football, but we have to be pragmatic and honest, it's time to drop him to the bench for a while.

Not being pedantic, what things on his mind?

Baby due, which after the tragedy of last time you can imagine him being somewhat distracted.
I get you, maybe a few matches on the bench would do him good, no chance now Adams is looking at a 3 match ban though, maybe Sammon and Done for the next 3 matches?

"Resilience" - says it all.

Vitally important that that gets built on week-by-week now. The somewhat ugly/functional midfield threesome (with Coutts providing moments of quality) seems to be helping.

I don't mind admitting this but Long is proving me wrong. It sounds like he's starting to command his area better, coming out for crosses and claiming them, and he has kept us in games recently.

He's far from the finished article but he is improving those aspects of his game - albeit from a low base. Needs encouraging and supporting if we're going to get the most out of him. (Goes for all the players really.)

Long is not good enough, dodgy on crosses and doesn't command his area

Sorry I cannot agree, thought he was at best average today, flapping at things, for eg just prior to Harris getting injured. Gives me palpitations everytime the ball goes near him. I take it you didn't go today Superblades ?, not being flippant mate just the way you've worded your quote.

Very rarely do I hear that he has caught the ball from corners. That's his main weakness.

He does seem to be doing better of late though.

I didn't go yesterday, was just going off Foxy's tweets and the shout box.
