What on earth is his game plan?
He talks about working on it every week but unless its aimless passing in our half, just to end up booting the ball up the field when under any pressure then something just isn't right.
p.s. Glad we got a win even if it was a dull game to watch.
His game plan is easy to work out.
He started by evaluating the squad, deciding who is half decent (out of the majority Clough players) and tried to play a more attractive 4-4-2 & 4-3-3 style which has generally failed. Not in my opinion the manager - the majority of the players just aren't capable of adjusting.
He has decided - quite possibly after Shrews at home, which may have been the last straw and has decided to go solid and try and stop conceding goals. He said after that game that he would solve the problem from within.
It may be a bit like Clough, but we cannot keep shipping goals. Give the bloke some credit - he changed it today at HT to a diamond and sacrificed Billy. The beard scored (thanks lino) and you cannot legislate for Adams being dismissed. We, as a team, dug in.
No doubt as Adkins attempts to make us more solid and hard to beat, fans will be criticising even more.
We as a club and Adkins as the NEW manager is learning on the job, with a squad of players he said wasn't good enough and he has been castigated left, right and centre. He will HOPEFULLY succeed, but it will not be easy and there may be some pain involved.
We MUST stick with this manager and give him a decent amount of time to get rid of the so called poor, Clough players and formulate a better strategy than in the past few years.
This does not happen overnight.
