To the job CW and AK have done, just look at what last nights squad cost (fees estimated based on widely reported fees):

Henderson - Loan
Basham - already at club
Egan - £4m
O’Connell - Nominal
Freeman - already at club
Stevens - Free
Fleck - Free
Norwood - £1m (estimate)
Duffy - Free
Sharp - already at club
McGoldrick - Free

Clarke - Free
Lundstrum - 750k
Moore - 750k
Washington - Free
Johnson - Loan
Coutts - already at club
Stearman - 750k

I very much doubt there is another club (maybe Rotherham) who have been this thrifty. Long may it continue.

Just incredible and hats off to CWAK and co

As CW said , a great time to be a blade

every game now, I really really look forward to .Great football and 100% effort and great skill on show

If we can keep everyone fit then this could be a very very good season!

Agree, it’s becomimg quite remarkable and (early days) but has some similarities with Brian Cloughs management.

Clough would buy ordinary players, then they’d turn into world beaters.
They’d leave Forest for big transfer fees, then they’d revert back to being ordinary players again.
I always wondered what Cloughs secret was. Ex players have always said since, that he didn’t really bother with tactics
trying to stop the opposition. He always focussed on playing the game they’d practised in training.

I still find it amazing how Mark Duffy has spent almost his whole career in the lower leagues.
He’s definely up there as being my favourite EVER Blades players on the.last 40+ years I’ve been watching us.

A friend pointed out last night to enjoy it while it lasts, as it won't be around forever.

He wasn't being morbid, but he's certainly right. From the promotion season to last year and now, we really are watching something special and we need to soak up every last second.

Duffy, Fleck, Sharp...legends are being made before our very eyes. It's a privilege to be watching players that we're all going to be talking about for years and years to come.

Ok, I'll play the pedant(cunt?).
Stearman:300k (source Danny04). Moore:300k (Chris Wilder).O'Connell just under 300k (CW); Clarke 150k(CW). Media reported Norwood was somewhere between 1 to 2 million. Not sure on any of the lads we've loaned out.Unbelievable business!

Players we've sold for significant fees to fund our business: David Brooks, Dominic Calvert Lewin, Che Adams, Aaron Ramsdale, Lee Evans, Ryan Leonard. Also the Jamie Murphy, Harry Maguire and Kyle Walker add ons. Total: in excess of 20 million.

We have waited long enough for it, but we actually have a proper transfer policy. We are re-investing properly when we sell.

We are living in good times, United-wise.

Let's not get carried away. We've played just 11 games of a 46 game season. Near the top yes, but the gap to 12th place is just six points.

Not getting carried away but the average football fan probably has an average of around 65-70 years to really appreciate his or her team. Recently we've seen 10% of that get absolutely pissed up the wall, followed, almost miraculously, by some of the best football in a generation, orchestrated by arguably the best midfield collective in the last 35 years. We might end this season empty handed, but I'll be damned if I'm ending it empty memoried!

12th would be an excellent finish with our budget.

Just when I am enjoying the football, you bring me down to earth with a bang. I'm now in my 66th year of going to the Lane.

On that reckoning, if he could drop Egan and Norwood, and bring in Coutts and Wright (when fit), we'd have a team that cost nothing, but a rather expensive bench... You've used a bit of guesswork, but those stats are amazing...

I know but geeoer nar, tha'll spook 't fooitball Gods and then it'll be Tevez, Ched, 15-16 on penalties and a ball in space ageean. Tha knows ar it works. Keep quiet - tell em nowt.

That's not the way it works. The run rate of the top clubs is 2 points per game. That of the 12th placed club is nearer 1.5 points per game. One will get you auto, the other will get you mid table. After 11 games the table is a good indicator of form and the table never lies, the top clubs already have the form and the others have got to find it from somewhere.

Another point that I say all the time is early season don’t focus too much on results because good luck or bad luck can be a factor.

Instead focus on the performances as they are an indicator of future results.
For example I’ve read many times that Birmingham have been performing well but seem to have bad luck putting away their numerous chances. This suggests that Brum will move up the table.

If you use performances as a bench mark, then we’re still looking strong candidates for promotion.
Of course players can lose form or acquires injuries but we DO look a CONSISTENTLY excellent team.
