If you watch the free kick from today I think most keepers save it.
I have played in goal on several occasions, so i can be protective of keepers.

I hoped when he came back in, he would improve over games like any outfield players do (which i think he has).

With regards to your post, I cant understand why keepers dont stand in a normal position on free kicks from that distance.

I know you position your wall, but just stand in the middle of the goal.

If they score from a worldy then fair play, but dont concede where the ball goes in nowhere near the side of the goal, because you are stood over to one side.

Hes not a very good keeper. We can aspire next season to having a better keeper as understudy or heaven forbid, a keeper that seriously challenges Cooper.

Cooper should have been dropped for his form this season (or given time tonhave corrective rest or surgery if that was the determining factor in his poor form) and sometime just 'playing them back into form' is the way to go. The fact that we didnt trust Davies enough to replace Coops (who i think will come back strong next season) is testimony to AD not being anywhere near good enough. Hes not a disaster, but he not a good Championship keeper either. We should be trying to have 2 very decent keepers, both pushing each other. Its not written in contracts that one keeper has to play 46 games a season. Two decent lads can share the workload over a season.

We need better than AD next season, and the newcomer should be told that the number 1 position is up for grabs and the one who doesnt get the shirt, needs to work harder to win it back. Otherwise, complacency (and injury) results in sub standard performance. The 6 Ps.

Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

Not seen the game but glad if he's getting better after a run of games. Grbic had one but was still shit.

He's been alright, hasn't he? Considering we were all terrified of him coming in when cooper got injured, he's not really done anything wrong. He made a couple of really good saves against Hull. I'd even go as far as saying he's ended up being better than Cooper this season.

We clearly need a new first choice keeper for next season but I think Davies deserves a bit of credit.

To be fair, he hasn't been a horror show from what I have seen. (His running out of goal last week wasn't really going to draw plaudits..)

I think what he doesn't give though is confidence to the defence and I think that is probably the biggest difference we have seen from (even an out of form) Cooper, and Davies.

Back up goalkeeper just seems like the hardest job in football. You doing really get to play, unless there is an injury and all of a sudden you are expected to be good quality.

It's certainly not as scary as the prospect of Grbic sitting on the bench and having to use him!

I think it was the mistake straight after coming on at Preston that tainted the view of him, my own included, but he's proven to be decent enough so far.

It's all about getting your eye in after not playing for so long.

He can clearly still do a job, its whether he's happy warming the bench for us or dropping down a level and playing regularly because he's still got a few years left yet as a keeper.

I hate any keeper getting done at his near post so I feel he could've done better with the Mcburnie goal (maybe harsh) - he did well to make himself big to stop the 1 on 1, could've finished us off and really turned the crowd had that gone in. He's been fine and not disgraced himself - I still wouldn't feel comfortable having him in goal for more than a handful of games

Seriki and Tanganga didn’t cover themselves in glory for the goal but Davies does flap at it.

Great save for 1 on 1. He was in no man’s land for the overhead kick though and had McGuinness to thank for his quick thinking.

The easier shots that he should save he sometimes struggles with but some of the one on ones he has been great with and its kept us in the match. I genuinely thought when Hull went through on goal we would be 2-0 down.

As I think I said already, if he was confident on claiming corners then I think the defenders would have a bit more trust in him. Although at the moment our centre backs already have their hands full with 2 full backs that don't fancy defending much.

If we had something to play for, I might have been "terrified", but probably not as I don't write players off as pub league level after one poor game like most here.

Confidence is key with goalkeepers and coming in from the cold when you barely play isn't great. Plus the fact under Wilder we rarely go on a cup run to give our second keeper more competitive game time.

It can't be easy to attract a No2 keeper at a championship club.
Travel every week , barely get a game and when you do under massive scrutiny.
Its a bit of a thankless task and after his stand in session Davis is about as good as we're going to find .

I think he has been fairly solid since he came back into the team. Yes there has been the odd error and he shouldn't have been beaten at the near post on Saturday, but we have seen far worse from Cooper this season.

It’s poor goalkeeping for there’s on Saturday , you shouldn’t be beaten low to your front post
In fairness to him, McBurnie hasn’t hit a shot cleanly for 15 years, he probably expected it to go in the top corner on the opposite side but he scuffed it!

Thought he could have done better with Hulls goal, but after that I think he did OK, if we're going to start scraping the bottom of the barrel regarding new signings next season then give him a contract, if we're going to start being a little ambitious, then get rid😊

We need three keepers next season and Faxon needs to play regularly. It'll be interesting to see how the keeper situation pans out.

He definitely hasn't been anywhere near as shit as I was expecting so fair fucks to him. Not sure you are going to get much better as a number 2 at this level.
