I would actually keep him as our backup goalkeeper next season. You can see each game he’s improving and gaining more confidence to come out and claim the ball.

I am a goalkeeper myself and believe me when you haven’t played consistent 11v11 football for a long time it’s hard to get back into it. We’ve never really seen a proper stint of games from Adam Davies, only the rare 1 game cameo where he was dodgy because he hasn’t played.

Do I still not feel comfortable with him in goal? Yes. But i’ve felt more confident about him as each game has gone on because he’s had more playing time to settle in.

Are you a reserve goalkeeper?

We need a goalkeeper to push Coops next season, Davies is not that man

I don't think he's very good but he's probably all we'll be able to afford next season.

45 games played since 2019, what’s that an average of 6.5 games a season - covers 25-32 yrs of age

where’s the ambition in the guy, best years of his career and he’s happy to sit on bench

Let him go to make last signing on fee and get a young un to push cooper

Nope - he is getting some credit for ordinary performances - crosses - wow

What do you want him to do? Create more football clubs? Ambition? How many Euro's and World cup squads have you been a part of?

The problem with this is that next season we need more than just backup as Cooper really hasn't been that great.

We need a keeper to push him for the No1 spot not just a backup.

if he’s happy to be a number2, then how hard does he push the number1?

Personally I’d rather drop a division and ply my trade in front of a crowd than be a back up and watch 90% of games from bench

Where’s the ambition?

I agree and I would say we need a taller and better goalkeeper than Cooper if we have ambitions to play again in the PL.

Most keepers save a lot of goals Cooper has conceded over the two seasons. Davies has done well since he came in, some fans want to be too critical
I didn't want to come over as critical of him and I agree he's done better than I thought but for next season to be better than this I don't think he's good enough

You’re an international class goalkeeper. There are only 92 goalkeeper spots in our league system. You are also a professional footballer. You need to maximise your earning potential given what will amount to limited opportunities. We signed him as backup to a very good Cooper. He could take a drop in pay to play but why should he? I don’t know what you do for a job but let’s suppose you are highly skilled in your profession, would you drop down to a lower level in, take less money and still take all the risk of injury just for the sake of it? Of course you wouldn’t. Just because he’s number 2 doesn’t mean he’s incompetent.

Very difficult to get a good back up keeper.
Middlesbrough back up keeper is Joe Wildsmith
Joe Lumbley - Bristol City journeyman.
Max Crocombe - Millwall L2 journeyman
Louie Moulden - Hull. Young keeper still but not played higher than L2
Danny Ward - Wrexham. Is he any better than Davies?
Ben Wilson - Coventry. L2 journeyman

My point is Davies is exactly the type of back up keeper that most in this league have. He’s probably better than most on that list too
