Anel was bought for £3m but I'm pretty sure there was a hefty promotion bonus (£1m or so). I've also totally forgotten to factor in profit on sales for their former clubs.

Incorrect. As alcoblade states, the profit is the gap between what the residual value of the players was and the transfer income from selling them. The £19.1m will be written off over 3 years (Tanganga, Matos, Polendakov) or 4 years (McGuinness, Chong, Zätterström). If any of those is sold during that time the whole calculation will be run again.

I would guess that the £19.1m breaks down as follows:
Tanganga £8m
McGuinness £4m
Zätterström £3m
Chong £2.5m
Matos £1.1m
Polendakov £0.5m
I suppose with Matos & Chong not being as expensive as first thought, then hopefully we can find somone willing to take them off our hands for around the same price we may have paid.

Thanks, am trying to work out how you came to the profits.

Souza bought for £10M (assume that is the fee and his wages?) so he had 2 years left in his contract and we have saved £5M in wages plus £1M in transfer fee profit?

Using the method I was working out the profit for Souza I am not sure how you got £6.5M profit for Anel, by my calculations it is £4.5M profit for Anel.
Beyond my shrinking brain but as I said things don't seem half as bad as first feared. We need to keep our best players to build for a crack next season .Hamer has to go though ! that booking against WBA was the last straw for me utterly brain dead that was.

Profit on disposal of player registrations =/= income from transfers.

First: the £11.4m:

Ahmedhodzic: bought for £4m total on a 4 year contract. Sold for £7.5m after 3 years when he had a carrying value of £1m. Profit £6.5m
Souza: bought for £10m on a 4 year contract. Sold for £11m after two years. Profit £6m.
Cáceres: bought for £1m on an 18-month contract. Sold for £0 after 4 months. Loss £700k.
Moore: bought for £2m on a 3 year deal. Sold for £2m after 1 year. Profit £700k.
Robinson, Hackford & Freckleton were sold for nominal fees which wouldn't have affected the figures.

Total profit £12.5m but because none of the players put in a formal transfer request they will have been due a loyalty fee, usually a proportion of the transfer fee. If we assume that was 10% we get to the £11.4m profit figure reported in the accounts.

Cash wise, incomings and outgoings roughly netted out once bonuses were taken into account.

Incomings:
On the up side, Matos can't have cost much more than £1m. On the down side, that's because we blew £8m on Tanganga and £6.5m combined on Chong & McGuinness. If we manage to get a third of that spend back I'd be amazed.
There's no upside on our incomings, gross incompetence from all involved. Plus we’ll be paying them all far too much

Bearing in mind the wages we are paying them, we've no chance getting rid without losing money
Can't see it being massive wages, we are still pretty well known for paying relatively low wages. I dont think those two will be on anywhere near as much as say Tanganga/Bamford/Hamer etc.

I mean that former ceo of prem team talking in January when we signed Philips said he would be surprised knowing United if we was paying anymore than £25k pw towards his wages.

But then again on the other hand it would only be new promoted teams and teams around bottom budgets that would look at gambling on these two.

Souza didn't cost half that

I think you'd be surprised at what we are paying them, bearing in mind they are bottom Champ/Div1 players at best.
According to Capology (I know it's only a guide) McGuinness and Chong are on £25k per week and Matos £10k!!

Where has the figures for post June 2025 come from ,these accounts don't go up to our summer sales and acquisitions

Souza didn't cost half that
Souza cost about £10m. This is evidenced through the 2023/24 accounts which reference player additions of around £52m: Archer £18m, Hamer £12m*, Trusty £5m, Traoré £4m, Grbic £2m, Slimane £1m leaving £10m for Souza.

*backed up by Coventry's accounts.

Wor Danny showing his ignorance of basic accounting here

Danny Hall said:
Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, the co-owners of Sheffield United, have reaffirmed their long-term commitment to the Blades, insisting the club is “well positioned for a period of sustained progress” despite the financial pressures laid bare in their latest accounts. Figures filed at Companies House showed United made a modest £800,000 post-tax profit last year.

But that figure was heavily reliant on player sales and owner funding, with the COH Sports group lending United £11m. Without that and a £5.5m profit in the summer transfer market, United would have lost somewhere in the region of £16m.
Where do I even start with this??

1) The £800k post-tax profit figure was not in any way reliant on owner funding. That was a cashflow item.
2) The profit in the summer transfer window is irrelevant to the 2024/25 accounts
3) The profit on disposal of player registrations in the 2024/25 season was £25.4m. That offset the £16m operating loss* and the £6.1m net interest payable
4) *Pretty much every club in England runs an operating loss with the ability to make a profit when selling players being the difference between profit and loss.
5) United made a £11.4m profit on disposal in the summer transfer window (it's in the notes, in black and white)
6) We paid £19.1m for the 6 new signings. However, this figure can't be compared to the profit in note 5) as one is a P&L item and the other a capital investment on the balance sheet.

Anyone wishing for a full appraisal of our accounts could always look here.

All the financial experts who celebrated the fiscal mismanagement of their club for over ten years, now predicting doom and gloom for ours.
They also thought that administration was great at the back end of last year.

We might have been ok in season 24/25. We will have to see what the 25/26 seasons bring. We will have a much reduced income from parachute payments and probably in the income from sales of players

One of the biggest issues we face and will continue to face is our debt and the substantial interest we have to pay on that debt.

I am not sure who the debt is owed to but I cannot see this being reduced in the coming seasons so we will always be hamstrung by this interest and continue to be in debt

It is a vicious circle so now do we get out of it

25 years straight they've been predicting our financial demise. They've nearly gone bust twice in that time and are still in admin. If only they'd warned each other about what was happening at their own club instead of fantasising about what might happen at ours.

We spent more on players in our worst season in fucking ages than their whole tinpot club is worth and yet we’re the ones who are fucked.

A few of them are going through the accounts looking for the £50 or £60 million, depending on which thick fuck you believe, owed to PA.

“Brewster - £23.5m
McBurnie - £20m
Mousset - £10m
Cannon - £10m

You could buy a football club for less than that...”

No one is paying anywhere near £23.5m for a local club currently in administration*. May get £10m for it without a ground.

* “good”administration obviously

Admin is a great thing anyway according to them so surely they should be worried if we're so close to the edge (again).

Their lack of self awareness is quite staggering

I think this is a field the vast majority of them should stay well away from given they failed to see the most obvious, huge iceberg in history coming their way until it was way too late.

Weren't we going into admin this February just gone anyway? Another swing and miss from the desperados

Salmonbones and KivoCryBaby claimed it every six months for year upon year.

One of them on PT has likened our current position to theirs in 2016 and 2017 (after two doomed play off finishes and the start of the Big Chan spendageddon era). That was their recent high point and it’s been pretty much downhill all the way since then.

Apparently, it stands to reason that it will be the same for us, starting now.

Projection. They're desperate for us to end up in the embarrassing state they've got themselves up to.

Chansiri could have softened the blow by selling some players. Never really did.
Didn't Newcastle bid 12m for Forestieri?
We'rent there parties in for Westwood at some time?

That's what we will have to do a bit this summer. Obviously be good if we also get some new investment too.

Expect Hamer to go. Probably one or two from Peck, Brooks and Seriki. Chance that a club decides to gamble on One too.

Be great if we could ship out Matos, Chong and McGuinness. Expect Ings and Mee to leave.
