Anyone been up to the Academy?

I've seen loads of comments on other boards about the value of this or otherwise, just wondered if anyone had any valid comments having been there...etc?

I have been up and seen the Academy a few times, like I said, I have some mates in Shirecliffe and drink at the Timbertop (no pigs allowed pub) when I'm down in sunny Sheffield. Seen a few matches on a Sunday morning. I have never been in and looked around (cos you can see the games from the pub) but from the outside view (and from what I know from other people) the facilities are amazing....It fantastic to see money being spent on bringing in fresh young talent from all over the globe, this year they had people from Holland & China I think....It's one of the best academy's in the UK. The season b4 last they narrowly missed out on the title only loosing in the final to Southampton.

Will Regan Slater be the next one into the first team? Worth a place on the bench Academy followers?

Not at the moment,in my humble opinion,a nice little growth spurt wouldn't go amiss to further help the boys development ,he does have a big future though.

Push me for a name,I would go Sam Graham

Liked the look of Sam in pre season
Difficult position to chuck a youngster in though isn't it

Travelled with the squad to Millwall and with Fleck banned a spot will open on the bench. Up to Slater (and Gilmour and Thomas and all the other U23s) to impress Wilder in training between now and Friday.

In football one man's misfortune is another's opportunity. Let's hope one of these lads take it.

Been inside a few times, our lad was in development for 2 seasons, unfortunately getting him there was an issue due to our work commitments, he's at Chesterfield academy at the moment, but really want him back in our stripes!

Think although its good to have young players involved and around the squad we have options that would further the first team on the pitch and i expect Wilder to share that unless he tries to prove a point to some of them.

I’d like to pop up to see them train. I’m off work for two weeks after this week and wondering when it’s open to the public?

Can you go inside and have a cuppa or is it just stand watch? Do you get at chance to mingle with the players?

How far away do Academy / U23 watchers think young Tyler Smith is? He seems to score most games he features in.

He appears to have some positive attributes. More importantly, Is he learning French?
