All these teams moaning about it, well just play the youth team?

should just be a cup for us championship clubs and leagues 1 and 2 😉
Well said ,Sir.
After all it is "The Football League Cup" + any sponsors name to add, Foxtrot Oscar Football Association Premier league, your not the only marble in the jar.
In fact I recon your a few marbles short of a jar.

No Thread Copper about when you need one.

No doubt getting to the semi finals will be reason for it being in GCB

We got promoted on merit at least give us the dignity of being relegated with some merit & pride in place, if relegation scrapped we'd be just doing a Groundhog season next season.

needed being scrapped for 30 years
Think I read that the League Cup is one of the main income streams for the EFL (which is where we’re likely to be next season) so scrapping it will harm us. The Big 6 don’t want it because they don’t make any money out of it, and the spare midweek slots could then be used for them to play more lucrative European matches. Scrapping it will negatively affect 86 teams in the league.

In an ideal world I'd scrap the the League Cup, scrap whatever the paint trophy is called now, streamline international qualifiers and do away with a ton of friendlies, and then we'd have far less trouble with fixture congestion. If there's too much free time we can always let a few more teams into the league.

Fact is that the cups are dying. Maybe it means more to some of the other teams down there but even in League One we all used to talk about how we should rest players for cup games. The glory of being the one shock team a year outside the Prem to lose in the quarters isn't that exciting any more. And then when we made it to the Prem last season...the league was still more important than playing too strong a side in the cup. Only a few select teams are actually in it to win it and for the rest it's a cash boost at best.

And that's the real problem again, the money. That and my fear that any reduction in fixture congestion would just be immediately filled again by someone seeing a gap and thinking "I bet we could cram some more European games in there". But as a spectacle, the cups are crap.

Don't see how 1league cup tie v say barrow in front of 4000 will help us
Or Southend getting 1500 in to play Newport is financially rewarding after paying players stewards and having lights on

I’m sick of people constantly trying to “improve” things and making them worse. I’m fucking sick to death of the laws of the game being changed every five minutes to accommodate VAR and I’m sick of people expecting us to pander to the wishes of the big six.

He doesn't mean matchday money, he means the whole income from the competition ie sponsorship deals and broadcast deals.

  • Next season's League Cup could be axed in the wake of the coronavirus crisis
Could this lead to the permanent dumping of this cup, they could just pull all PL teams out of it and let the leagues below battle it out.
  • There is a growing feeling that completing the current season is impossible
This one baffles me if it's referring to this season there's only 8 games left for teams, where would the impossibility come into it?
  • The Premier League could be expanded to 23 teams with 44 fixtures in total
The top 6 already moan too many games yet they want to do this, it's all very baffling, if & I say if they stop relegation this season could this be seen as retribution for 06/07 the PL makes rules up as it goes along. If there is truth behind this story then Friday's meeting could be well tasty.

I wouldn't want us to be in Premiership next season with the current team and become whipping boys for another season! We need to regroup, beat lesser teams get our confidence back and come back to the premiership
Absolute rubbish that, in my humble Penny Black addled brain. We can build in whichever division we are in if we get the right manager in.
