Only 6'2 and has to lower his head to get out of the tunnel, come on United sort it out!

Very carefully worded by Bournemouth’s official release: “The fee for Ramsdale is the third highest AFC Bournemouth have received for a player.”

Now I don’t usually rely on transfermarkt for anything, but they would put this deal therefore behind Mings with £20m, and ahead of Ritchie at around £11m. Lots of scope for both sides to make of it what they want it to be, but I bet it’s not near the £18.5m unless there’s a tonne of things that need to happen before it reaches that.

How about 13.5 with million add ons for staying up next season, the following season, 50 apps, 100 apps and a cheeky one for an England cap!

Young keeper with lots of potential to improve. It will be interesting to see how he develops under CW and the GK coaching staff.

Well to settle the Rambo / Rammers debate..... Looking at the video released on the United Facebook page it's Rambo. (Just take a look at his keepers gloves). ;)

100% unsure about this one.

Seems a lot of dough and, what becomes clearly obvious, we were still deep in negotiations for Hendo right up until, I’m guessing yesterday.

Its PL inflation I guess. Hope he proves my uncertainty to be unfounded !

Geor Dronnie... he’s just what we needed. He’ll win you over I’m sure! This is a great signing for us 😁

We needed someone who not only had the ability but could also click into place without a lot of fuss or too many hiccups.
Every new signing is a gamble, but for me, this one is a much safer bet than the other possibilities. Hendo was a class act and will be hard to follow but I'm confident that Aaron Ramsdale will prove to be highly successful and will become a firm favourite with the fans.

Why is it obvious that we were still negotiating for Henderson? Genuine question, I’ve not seen anything re that.

I’m quite happy. The staff know him as a character as well as a player. I’m happy we’ll see him grow. Lots of potential here. I did like Henderson but he wasn’t infallible.

Considering Henderson appears to be negotiating with Man U over a contract that will make him one of the best paid GKs in Europe, I can't see Man U and Deano talking to us too.

We may have asked, but registering interest is as far as it got I reckon.

We just couldn't wait this season, not with a 4/5 week preseason.

My god, they got £11mill for Matt Ritchie... And that was years ago.

And we have some fans saying we wasted money last summer.😄

Great signing
Has all the righ physical attributes
We know hin and we know us
We didn't want to sell him and he didn't want to.
Will only improve and hopefully that a number 1 sorted for 5-10 years.

This is where my thinking is at.

My feeling is that this is a gamble, and I'm happy for people to save this quote and use it against me later, because it will mean we've all benefitted. My worry is that he's unproven and I've been challenged on that on here already.

Contrast the two: Henderson has taken a number of progressive loans up the footballing ladder. Grimsby, Shrewsbury, the Blades across two divisions. He's proven himself at every level, being fairly successful at most, very successful at too and looked comfortable with each time he's stepped up a division. He's now touting £100k a week, reportedly.

Ramsdale, and this is no slight on the lad: was peppered and relegated at Chesterfield, peppered and just avoiding relegation at AFC Wimbledon, peppered and relegated at AFC Bournemouth. It's hard to gauge how good a keeper is across that career path. In that respect, he's unproven.

I think it's a gamble, Henderson is ready now, as evidenced by calls to be England's number 1, whereas we're spending what we assume is a good chunk of our budget on someone who may or may not be ready. If he isn't, the position is a significant weakness for us and a real vulnerability in our second season at this level. Replacing Henderson was always going to be hard, but maybe a more proven replacement may have been needed?

Crazy to think that if it's £18.5m + the effective waiver of the sell on fee - so roughly £21m; we now have one of the top ten most expensive keepers of all time (or thereabouts anyway).

It's worth remembering that Ramsdale is younger than Henderson, even if it's only a year.

That in mind, Ramsdale is effectively a year ahead of Henderson in terms of progression, as this was obviously both players 1st season in the PL.

By that logic, if you're comparing the 2 players, then you should be comparing Ramsdale with the Henderson of 18-19, rather than 19-20.

I very much like this. I think at the end of the day we will not have actually paid that much for him, he will continue to progress, and I can see him being our man for several years to come
