I think it means they wanted more than £18.5m but the sell on meant they took a lower amount as it left them in the same place as selling him elsewhere for a larger fee.

I read it that the total package equates to £18.5 and no more. i.e. fee £15.75m + 15% sell on fee (or logically £18.5m - 15%)

I was favouring cakir but now this has happened I’m actually really relieved. We’re getting an English player who will fit (Back) into the group who knows the manager, club and league.

And with the sell on clause and academy product clause thrown in, it’s only about £12m including add ons. So it makes a lot of financial sense too and is a lower risk.

Let’s just get some wrist strengthening drills for him.

My preference was for another year of Henderson on loan, but if we are getting him for a real figure of only about 12-13 mil then I think thats a brilliant signing.

Wilder said earlier in the season how highly the staff rated him, he was uncharacteristically gushing about him.

He does need to work on his command of an area though (see our first goal vs B’Mouth at the lane)

I like many others thought we could do better than Aaron. However when the name of Jack Buckland is mentioned i am quite relieved if this does happen.
Aaron unlike some others wants to play for us and will give his all. Let's give him our support and if the management including Darren Ward are behind him that's good enough for me.

Granted its a fair chunk of money, but in todays market not at all outrageous.

Majority on here will not have seen him play apart from odd highlight here and there.

Another thing to take into account is wages. Don’t just look at the overall fee, the majority of the financial outlay for a player is his weekly wage.
Ramsdale will fit into our wage structure nicely, and probably be happy with it as it will still be a nice rise from what he was on at Bournemouth.

Cakir would have wanted more and Henderson for another season would have blown it out of the water. We’d have been about £8m in a hole on his wages alone without owning the player.

I'd like some clarification on the fee, if its 18.5 now and would of actually been 20+ without the deduction I think CWAK wants his head examining personally either that or maybe the transfer budget is a lot bigger than we thought. I'm happy with this as will settle in nicely with the group rather than overseas GK coming to the UK. Quality, young and had plenty of practice last season courtesy of the defence in front of him. Hope he doesn't get bored with us lol! A quiet afternoon's work etc.

I think I would have preferred the Turkish guy. I guess this is less of a gamble, but with less of an upside in my opinion. However, it fills the biggest off season need. Hope that Aaron is not gonna be like Pickford, who looked like a great keeper at Sunderland only because he played behind a porous defence.

It was on net other day Man Utd offered Deano new contract 100k per week, also said that if he came back to us we'd have to pay the 100k wages each week way too rich for us.

Don't get people saying Bournemouth have had our pants down when we will be getting one of the best young English keepers available.

If he has a great season for us next season he will be bang there for the Euros too it is an excellent move for Ramsdale and for us and when you look at some of the fees banded around and fees paid for other goalkeepers 18.5m is peanuts.

I was hoping we would sign Cakir but we will be getting Ramsdale instead who is also a quality keeper too and he will be ours we won't have to worry about him going back anywhere like we have with Hendo.

I hope we've got Ramsdale he's come home in a sense, good GK Prem experience we have to cut our cloth accordingly, with Cakir there would have been language problems but he'd soon pick up Yorkshire lad.

I've got to say that if this goes through I will be delighted.

We were reluctant to sell him in the first place but needed the money to strengthen the team elsewhere.

He's a good young English goalkeeper that has played for the national team through the age groups

He's well known to the club management and coaches, so no risk of him not fitting in.

He knows the club inside out, so no unexpected shocks for him too.

He may not be at Henderson's level yet but he's not far off it, (I think a lot of our fans overate Henderson as they did Blackman before him) and he definitely has the potential to be as good as if not better than Henderson.

We would own our own keeper and have much more control of own destiny than we had whilst renting a keeper from Man U.

The fee is irrelevant, if we want the player (any player) then we have to pay a figure that is acceptable to the selling club in order to get him. It beats me that some of our fans would be happy to pay £50m and a kings ransom in wages for Henderson, but seem to think £18.5m and wages within our structure is too much for an similar aged and experienced keeper.

For those saying the price is too high, young & English equals expensive. I haven't seen enough of him to judge whether he is a good signing or not, so I trust the people who are paid to do this more than random voices on a football forum.
Apart from that, Ramsdale after being coached by us & behind our defence for a few games is surely much more likely to excel than being behind Bombshell Bournemouth's defence in a season long relegation battle.
It augers well that we are going for young players who can give us some long term continuity, exactly the type of player we should be attracting.
