We had a very disappointing home draw to Millwall. Like most I thought our automatic chances were now minimal and it looked like playoff 'fun' awaited.

What pissed me off more though, was twats on here, insisting Wilder 'had to go'.

It was a massive overreaction to a result by a team that had been overachieving given the resources and expectations we had.
However it was also a real gut-punch of a day. The climax of that game was a rollercoaster with the red card, penalty miss and last minute goal.
We were then relying on our neighbours to do us a favour at Elland Rd...they did not and instead rolled over for Leeds.
It looked as though Leeds would stroll through the run-in and United would once again be the bridesmaid.
You’ve got to remember that we’d recently blown it against Bristol at home whilst Leeds managed to get a result...it all seemed set up to be another Blades nearly-men tale.
I can understand why many Blades got too emotional that day - we’ve been burnt before and have grown to expect the worst.
That’s what makes Good Friday so remarkable. We did our job and Leeds managed to choke against all the odds.
Wilder deserves so much credit from then - the Hull game was a fantastically accomplished and comfortable performance...not one sign of any nerves or choking...Leeds saw their opportunity disappear and the last remaining wheel fell off their push for the autos.
(They then took their wheel-less, rusted old bus into the play-offs for Frank Lampard to condemn for scrap )

I doubt very much that I was on here calling for anyone's head, but I'd go along with Rogering Moore and be interested to see what, if anything, I did post, whether shameful, delusional, or just incoherent. I know I could search my own history probably, but...

What would be nice though is if we do get a 'name and shame', nobody feels any real need to shame. Let bygones be bygones. Idealistic?

Leading 1-0 with a Gary Madine goal at the Kop end on 49 minutes, the old nerves kicked in as Millwall went for the equaliser. With just 5 minutes left, Elliott headed goalward but Egan seemed to have blocked the attempt. Unfortunately, he'd handled it, was red-carded and Millwall were awarded a penalty*. Bummer. However, Marshall's spot-kick struck the bar and went over. Relief!

However, in the last of five extra minutes being played, Dean Henderson saved excellently from Elliott, but Cooper headed the parry home. Bummer. Match report.

It proved a wake-up call as we won the next three games - the Good Friday home game with Forest (April 19 - 2-0), a 3-0 win at Hull on Easter Monday and a 2-0 home win over Ipswich the following Saturday before rounding the season off with a 2-2 draw at Stoke.

I think this was the game when Gary Sinclair announced the MOM as "Match winner, Gary Madine".

We battered them for 60 odd minutes and should have been out of sight but then you could see the nerves kick in, their manager chucked the kitchen sink at it and the equaliser was a real kick in the bollocks.

I always think back to the end of the 83/84 season SB , after we lost at Bolton 3-1 everyone thought we’d fk’d it and we’d given it Hull on a plate , 8 days later after an inform Hull had lost 1-0 to bottom of the table Port Vale & drew at home to Bristol Rovers they needed to win at Burnley by 3 clear goals to go up they won 2-0 . Myself and another 4K delirious Blades celebrated promotion . My point being until the points are in the bag games in hand & form count for very little , add in the extra pressure some teams & players handle it better than others , as in last season also

In the euphoria that has since followed I'd forgotten about that Millwall game. It was an extremely nervy game and we were lucky to hang on for a point. Leeds moved three points clear of us with a better gd after beating the pigs. Deadbat summed it up for many.

"People will say do not overreact and we are still in it, but today was pretty disastrous on all fronts. We did not win the game, played poorly and lost possibly 3 key men. Leeds won their game and now we really need to win every game really and at the moment don’t look like going on the run that we had done a few months ago. I hope Wilder is right and we see a different team to the usual United team that wilt under pressure but the last few we have not been good enough which is a shame as we got in a great position. We still have four games to play but you sense today being a huge turning point."

That second half was one of the worst collective bottle jobs seen at BL in many a year.

However, the players themselves were absolutely not bottlers, as their reaction the following Friday (which was nervy until the last minute), and then the Easter Monday at Hull (which was nervy for all of about 25 mins) showed in spades.

I can forgive them one slip up in the run in. Let's not forget that Leeds had 3 or 4...

I agree with this, I never boo at the game or give stick on Facebook etc but why does it matter who said what? We're up and riding the Crest of a wave. That millwall game was another point in out total.
