No Biggsy, he's not a Blades favourite, he's wank now shush!
Can we use McNulty's wages too?Quite possibly I'm not the first to have considered this, but with John Brayford at Burton, and assuming he fits the bill there, come the end of the season surely there's a possibility of negotiating his transfer and using this money as full or part payment in making an offer that will ensure we sign EEL? Like I say, not the most inventive idea but certainly one that has potential UTB
We shouldn't need to sell anyone else to sign EEL.
But yes, sell Brayford anyway, ASAP. Any fee will only help.
Maybe Burton will stump up 300k for him and we'll get to hear a soppy interview when he signs..... "it's not about the money, this is the place I want to be, I just love Nigel so much..."
Would be nice if that situation happened, but rather than tempt fate and allow someone else to nip in and steal him, maybe agree a deal in advance of the season's end? One thing we can rely on, Wilder will be way ahead of this situation and do whatever he feels needs doing.

Wilder may very well be way ahead of the situation ....... the big problem though will be the usual one ....... the financial support from the Board.
The acid test comes on 1st January .......

Or why dont we use the money that we got for DCL and Che Adams to sign EEL, obviously what is left after all clubs costs etc, im sure it would be affordable.
EEL's contract also runs out in 2017 at Wolves, so it may just be a case of offering a contract in January and for us to only pay a small fee as he would only have half a year remaining, id say tops 1 million we would be looking at in January.

It's not acute fiscal awareness that tells us that as soon as money comes in from fees they are dispersed throughout the club, but on a simple like for like basis then yes, there should be money available to make an offer that is realistic and shows we want to sign EEL. On Wilder's previous dealings, he goes in low with a view to upping his bid if he feels the player is worth it. CW will realise EEL's value to the team and the club in general, you can't discount the way the fans love the player and that has to carry weight in this type of transfer. EEL, and his agent, should realise that his performances have been consistently good for a reason, namely the manager and the players he plays alongside. The experience of Wright is invaluable in this equation, and EEL should accept how this has helped him, and JOC, to develop as a great defensive unit.
Completely agree, I do hope we sign him, I feel the setup and the team have benefited him and hopefully this will lure him towards us for a permanent basis. To me, I feel that the funds should be there considering the sales of DCL and Che as we had not really spent on players since their departure and instead go loanees instead, one being EEL, apart from Simon Moore. Knowing the board, they will say the funds are not available as they have been spent in the club, but there has to be something, the crowds are consistently high too due to good performances, that adds to more income too, not much but it benefits. I think we could be looking at around a million, id say it would be a hell of a deal, really to me we have to sign him, be just brings that ability to the team we have lacked for years in an individual. Let's just see what happens and how we go around it, I would say we should definitely put in an offer and most likely will, just will we be willing to spend the money Wolves want to get him or will we again let go of a great asset to the club for him to go to another team and perform even better and then to be sold on for millions, in other words shooting ourselves in the foot, which we seem very good at!
too slippery for that.A keepnet.
Some of the DCL and Che money will have been spent on Moore and JOC plus we had to pay off Hammond. Those demanding that the board provide the funds to sign EEL seem to ignore the new policy of reality that the club will not pay silly money out on players. Look what happened with the Beard. The fans wanted him as did the manager and we paid a big fee and huge wages for one player. Was it worth it? Clearly with the benefit of hindsight it was a bad move. We could have had 3 or more decent L1 players for that money. I like EEL but how good is he? He may grow into a very good Championship player but then again he may not. How much does he rely on Wright's organisation? CW/AK will have to assess what they think is an appropriate fee/wage but not buy at any cost. There are surely other CHs around if Wolves or his agent want silly money. It's not acute fiscal awareness that tells us that as soon as money comes in from fees they are dispersed throughout the club, but on a simple like for like basis then yes, there should be money available to make an offer that is realistic and shows we want to sign EEL. I've written about this extensively elsewhere. It's not an "at all costs" policy but if a deal can be done then most Blade's supporters would be happy to see this go through. If not then we move on, simple and uncomplicated I'd hope you agree.
Isn't he out of contract in June? Surely that will force wolves hand in January or he'll go for free?
I guess that could be used a bargaining chip but I can't see it being practical to actually activate it.They have a year option that they may activate.
Haven't you just Contradicted your " dig " at KM and the ' silent ' prince with this last contribution to the thread .
I thought it was a case of put the money up to seal this kind of signing or get off the khazi and let someone else sit on the proverbial throne with the financial clout to do so ????
Apologies if I've misread your points but you appear to shy away from your original point by veering towards a more Mr Wilder refusal to have our pants pulled down on ANY signing we make .
