A small regret

In theory the cup WAS a great idea. Until they messed it up this year.

We Blades have been blessed (seems wrong saying that) with many a visit to the new Wembley & this trophy gives other clubs a chance for a day out at Wembley they probably wouldn't get without it.

On a side note, didn't Coventry try & claim their protest was because our game was on telly & gave them a lot of exposure??

Seems strange that nothing is done today if that was the real reason for it all!!

Never wanted this trophy adding to our "honours" list

Or the Johnstone's Paint or the Zenith Data cup either

It's embarrassing to win a trophy designed to give the shit clubs a day out

Coventry are playing well and should really be two up.

lifting the Check trade/Johnston Paint Trophy Today . Relegated Wednesday :D

Always felt like a barometer of how far we had fallen. That and taking notice of the draw for the first round of the FA Cup.

Perfectly happy to be able to ignore both for ever!

Wouldn't a Coventry pitch invasion now get far more publicity than the one they did against us. Of course though, their fans are too busy enjoying the day to protest about Sisu.

I've never attended a single game we've played in it and I never will .

We may need to form a guard of honour middweek for the Cup Holders .. and politely applaud

I'm thinking more of a rousing rendition
What the fuck
What the fuck
What the fucking hell,is that
What the fucking hell is that

They won't show up to their home matches because SISU but they get to Wembley and they're all there.

How inconsistent can you get?

Yep, and Bristol City the year before when they won the league. Southampton won it in 2010 (I was in the Carlisle end for moral support of a mate of mine – they were awful). Pretty sure Carlisle and Chesterfield have won it in that period. Couple of teams I've forgotten. That's more teams than I could recall that have won the league cup or FA Cup the last 5 years though tbh.

The competition was barely worth thinking about before this season – with the B teams involved it's gone beyond a joke into actually being damaging for the game.

Oxford are turning into the Blades of this competition, that's two years running they've lost in the final!

I would have quite liked to win the JPT. However, this year's incarnation is a disgrace to the sport and I wanted us out of it asap. It has quite rightly, been sent to Coventry.

Apparently the prize money is quite low but the owners of the clubs get around 45% of the gate income each. So Cov have just given a big pile of money to SISU. And we're the twats for singing a song.

Imagine my dismay on opening this thread only to find that it wasn't filled with tales of sauce, indignity and embarrassment surrounding the unnatural escapades of our very own Small Mendonca
