We never did get to the final of the Checkatrade/Johnstone Paint Trophy. Today could have been a promotion celebration at Wembley without the stress of the playoffs. Oh well, onwards and upwards!

Instead, Coventry are there with their fickle fans clinging to any chance of glory in the shittest cup in the world, before being put to the Sword on Wednesday night almost sealing their relegation as we march on and hopefully celebrate promotion that night on the way to taking the title.

There are no regrets

It's the one trophy I never want to see United's name etched into, no matter how low we fall and how desperate we become.

An absolute joke of a competition.

I could have watched us lift a trophy, then off to the Thames to watch the Boat Race! Two off the bucket list in one afternoon.

The intention of the JPT or Checkertrade as it is now was set up with good intention for the lower league clubs to stand more of a chance of a day on the Wembley turf. Some love it and some don't.

Did Barnsley win it last year?

Yep, and Bristol City the year before when they won the league. Southampton won it in 2010 (I was in the Carlisle end for moral support of a mate of mine – they were awful). Pretty sure Carlisle and Chesterfield have won it in that period. Couple of teams I've forgotten. That's more teams than I could recall that have won the league cup or FA Cup the last 5 years though tbh.

The competition was barely worth thinking about before this season – with the B teams involved it's gone beyond a joke into actually being damaging for the game.

The Coventry fans have been saving up all season for the Wembley trip, can't be any other reason why they don't bother going to the home games but turn up in massive numbers for this one. The Jaguar/Land Rover factory production will be down this weekend.

Lets ask the 43,000 mostly part time Coventry fans whether they would swap places with us if they win the joke trade trophy ?

It wasnt a bad idea when it was limited to just league teams but now they have devalued it even more by inviting reserve teams from the premier league and championship its a joke. The sponsors and football league must be breathing a massive sigh of relief that 2 league teams with a bit of history have got to the final and there will be agood gate but what would it have been like if it had been Leicester U23 v Reading U23 ? .... A massive massive joke !

Barely worth it. I live quite near and my mate lives next to the river so we'll probably watch it. You get to see about five minutes, if you're lucky. They do have a few bars and beer tents on the route though and quite a good atmosphere. Worth travelling a mile for, not sure I'd even want to go from Wembley to Chiswick after a game, if I had to head back up North. Bit of a faff.

I would have gone to the old pisspot trophy but since the re-vamp I want nothing to do with it.

Only reason I ever thought about this cup was because it might be a trophy we'd win. But I never cared enough to want us to put out a first eleven in the games for it.

Let's lift the actual title, and not a manufactured and now even worse than ever piece of shite cup.
