We transport ourselves back 4-5 years. A manager with no experience above League 1 status tells the supporters “I will take this ramshackle team of no hopers and turn it into a Premier League outfit within 5 years. We will storm League 1 with 100 points, accelerate out of the Championship within 2 years and humiliate our neighbours in the process with a display at their gaff that will become ingrained in Blades history. As supporters, you will luxuriate in some of the most innovative and sublime football you will ever experience that will become the talk of the footballing world. We will destroy the likes of Spurs and Chelsea in our first season in the Premiership and engage in £20 million+ transfer deals to buy some class players. All I would say is that, at some point in all this, we may hit a bad spell of results. Hopefully, it will be at the beginning of a season so there’s plenty of time and opportunity to turn it round.
