Do we not have any young players who look like they may push their way into the first team reckoning this season? The only area where we're strong is upfront, it would seem odd (at this level) if we don't have talent from our youth system which would at least offer something different and look to be challenging for a position in the squad.

I agree. There must be a few that have more to offer than our current options at centre half.

I refuse to believe there's nobody in the U21's better than Jay McEveley for example.

If there isn't, serious questions ought to be asked of the academy.

Might be clutching at straws Robbie. I've said it before, Khan & Dimaio put in impressive cameos against a strong Rotherham side a couple of seasons ago, but have rarely been near the first team since, which is baffling. I don't watch the U21's so I'm sure there is someone better qualified than me to comment on their progress.

Ironically after producing good defenders in recent years we now have a number of attacking players coming through.,when really we need
defenders. The attacking players namely::::constrain ,Mcdonagh culvert Lewis ,khan not forgetin, Diego. These five are all good prospects but
none are ready for the hurly burly of this division I would say the one nearest to the team my opinion! Jamie mcdonagh who I think is robust enough to cope with the aggression in this league, had he not lost a year after breaking his leg playing for Ireland under 17 ,s he would my opinion again::be with the first team now.I wouldn't be surprised if Adkins gave him an opportunity with the first team.

The No4 against Sunderland at SPS stood out, no idea who it was.
