If the answer to both of those questions is no, I say fuck the shit-storm (if there is one at all). People shouldn’t kowtow to the majority if they believe the majority is wrong. With that attitude we women would never have got the vote, slavery would still be legal, gay rights wouldn’t exist. We have as much right to employ him as anyone else does. We owe it to ourselves to exercise our rights regardless of what some small minded people have to say about it.

I think Sharp knows that he would get more space playing alongside Evans. I did hear a rumour that they didn't get on, however I am not sure where their paths crossed?I also think it would be a conversation Wilder and Sharp have had already, and like Silent Blade said, if Wilder wants him...

They were both at the club in 2008-09 so their paths would certainly have crossed. I think Long and Sharp are the only players that have been at the club with Evans during his last stint.

I did give the actual number. I take your point regarding the fitness issue. Time will tell but I suspect the more he plays and trains, the more he will iron out these issues. It's not like he's had a serious injury like ACL etc.

No I don't have mates that have done the same. There is also a big difference between cheating on your girlfriend and having a threesome with a mate after he calls you up saying he has a bird back in his hotel room, then sneaking out the fire exit! I believe he is entitled to a career ofcourse, just don't like the guy for what he did. I won't be kicking up a fuss if we signed him, I'd just prefer not to have a guy like that playing for Blades. I also would prefer we didn't have the likes of: Joey Barton, Gary Madine or Peter Odemwingie. Not on football reasons, I just don't like them so would prefer they didn't play for us! You may not dislike Evans for what he did, which is why you want him to play for us. Absolutely fair enough. It's just too much for me to think of him in any other way than a bit of a scumbag really.

I can relate to your point of view. I had similar feelings about Marlin King when he signed. But I do believe in 2nd chances which is why I would welcome Evans back. I don’t believe in 8th, 9th and 10th chances when people spend prolonged periods of their adult life acting like twats and not learning lessons. In Evans’s case we’re talking about 1 incident when he was young which he paid a high price for and you would hope he’s learned from it. In the cases of people like King, Ranger, Madine, Barton etc. we’re talking about thugs who reoffend time and time again and continue to act like twats.

There were times in the games against Bury and Wallsall when we were struggling to break them down when I thought "he'd have a field day with all these chances/ half chances".

He's scored 6 goals. That's a fact. The FA cup is a recognised competitive competition. If I'd said 6 league goals you'd have a point.

People talk about the 35 goals he scored for us in 2011-2012. Not the 29 league goals.

Fair enough, I can relate to that point of view. I don't share it though. I think he's shown enough to suggest he's be an improvement on all our strikers except Sharp and could make a good partner for him. Then there's always the chance he could hit that old form in which case he'd be an unbelievably valuable asset (and could be for a promotion rival if we don't sing him). But based on what I've seen this year, I think he'd be like a better version of Matty Done which would suit our needs. As I say, I'd be equally pleased if we signed one of Bogle, Taylor, Akinde etc. I just think Evans will be more affordable than them.

Try and ensure that the bluster, backed up by what I can only refer to as 'certainty', is kept to a minimum, and that you do as you suggest others do, and that's to make sure you don't mislead to suit your argument.

Well yes, as a counsel of perfection I would like as many excellent strikers as I could get in, but I think we need to plan for elsewhere to cover midfield and defence when at the moment the goal scoring seems ok. Also, I am unconvinced by signing a striker such as Ched when the option we really need is a young fast mobile good in the air brick shithouse. I would swap Clarke for one of those but they are probably as rare as rocking horse shit. I suppose we will see in January where board and management's priorities lie. Should be fascinating for once.
