Got to say, Weir isn't getting it, despite an extremely generous transfer budget for Div. 3. Can't see any decent managers who are available so yeah. Get NW in in a 'Red Adair' role, lay out precise terms such as half a mill. for play-offs, £1m for promotion and we part ways at the end of the season (something QPR should have done). NW is a motivator with a good track record of promotions. Can't hack it at top level. Might just appeal to him - one last crack at glory.
 
I now agree. If not Warnock then def someone who can help Weir & then leave at the end of the season.

The only other way is to admit we got it wrong & sack Weir & go for Poyet.
 
I couldn't stand Warnock but it is time ignore personal grievances and get him back to the Lane.

There seems to be a unrealistic expectancy of who we can attract as manager, names like gus poyet and in other posts Martin o'neill and dimatteo . We are in league 1, and the bottom end at that. Some of us need to get real, I agree that weir is making some mistakes and some of them are pretty catastrophic (sticking blindly to his style even when the results suggest a change is needed) but who could we honestly get in ?.

Neil Warnock
 



It's a no brainer if you were the owner and you had the choice between Warnock and Weir. I doubt Weir would want Warnock above him.

I thought it was time for Warnock to leave when he did. It is probably now the time for him to come back. His teams with Crystal Palace and QPR played football. With Curle as his assistant he could bring Derry back with him.

He has retired, sadly. I think he might motivate people but he may suffer from expectation that can't be delivered.
 
It would cost £1m+ to get shut of Weir and Carsley.

You have to give him until at least Christmas to turn things around. Let's be honest our chance for an automatic place has gone so now we need to work towards 6th place +. There is still time to achieve this goal. If we end up mid table come the end of the season. There is always next year.

He actually referred to it in his article for the Independent last week and in his latest book.

I think it unlikely. It's all very romantic but Neil might think, heck KMcC wouldn't give me a crack at getting back to the Prem so why should I get him out of the shit now when there is a good chance they'll go down to L2?

As an emotive person myself I can see things that bug him and respect is clearly one of them. He might also feel 'hey I took over when they were struggling at the bottom of the Championship and I'm expected to step in when they are in a similar situation one league lower? What thanks will I get?' I believe these things will go through his mind.

If he was offerred and accepted I think that shows he is not as much as an arse as some like to paint him as.

I lke Neil, but I can see he goes over the top at times. But football is a passionate game and he kind of encapsulates that for me as well as being a Blade. I'd have him back, but I think it is high risk for him mind.
 
No no no and no again. His retired, it's a backwards step etc etc. I can't even be bothered to list the reasons. He wouldn't want it anyway, why would he?

The only reason I can think of is that the messianic status afforded to him by some of our fans might appeal to his ego.

I actually quite like the man but like you it has to be a no. Just for fun:

It would be a huge backward step
His bladey bladeness would drive plenty of people on the board to despair
Fractious relationship with McCabe
Yet another change of direction for the first team
He's retired and there's no guarantee he'd come back raring to go
Even if he did it's no guarantee of success
Second spells are rarely successful (albeit Eddie Howe seems to be doing OK!)
We'd sign Paddy Kenny. I hate Paddy Kenny
Those godawful Michael Brown rumours would return with aplomb
I'm not sure anyone could turn this team around, it would be an expensive failure if we still struggled

Although Neil did bring about an immediate improvement, don't forget it took him 3-4 years to bring about the good days that we remember. Weir has had 8 matches.

You've covered almost all of them. I can't stand the inevitable Warnock rumours that come out whenever our manager is under pressure. The lack of imagination across our supporters gives me a migraine.
 
Fans want him back because he was the manager last time we had any type of success and we have spiraled downhill since he left. I imagine had the internet been around in years gone by then fans would have wanted John Harris back in the seventies as we fell through the leagues

I personally don't care who comes in, I would just like to win again

This is pure gold. Weir has started off so badly that we won't get automatic promotion, so this is a reason to keep him? I'll tell you what, I wish I could do my job so badly that I became indispensible, just because the company I worked for had a high turnover of staff in that role.
 



The reason to keep Weir is that he really hasn't had much time. You have to give him a fair crack of the whip and eight games is just not enough, particularly with so many new players.

I say review matters at Christmas.

I do not believe that any of the alternatives touted about are realistic targets. Forget Poyet and Di Matteo and why look to the past.

As I have said before we are at the start of a three year plan to get back to the top half of the championship.

You can't build a decent team playing attractive football in two months.

Give the bloke a chance.
