A bit of good news for a change. As Blades news featured across media throughout the day, for not unexpected reasons, reasons, for the second year running, Blades' fanzine and Newsletter, The Pinch was on a short-list of six for the Football Supporters Awards "Fan Media of the Year" at last night's FSA ceremony, in London. The Pinch once again attracted much admiration from other nominees, generally with much larger circulations. As the award is voted for by the public, those clubs with longer established magazines inevitably drew from much larger pools of 'friends' and one took home the spoils. But The Pinch has been in action only a couple of years and is already recognised as a quality read, achieving short-listing status twice now in its short life. Even (perhaps particularly) in these temporarily challenging times (never uneventful being a Blade is it?), quality football writing is worth the shout and Dem Blades creators seem to have pulled off something top-rated with The Pinch. Editors, Sam Parry and David Taylor were at the awards evening to prove that although we might be down, we're not out .....
