A Nice Gesture From Fenerbahçe

I might be in the minority but when I go to a football ground I want to watch a game of football, if I wanted to watch fireworks I'd go to a firework display all about opinions I guess.

When I go to the cinema I go to watch a film. But a drink and a bag of sweets makes it more enjoyable.

Again, its not an aggressive act, it happens in their own ground every week. It's a failure to understand what's seen as proper behaviour in English football grounds at worst.

Not a reason to feel antipathy towards them. If we're ever invited to Istanbul for a game I'll venture to say our fans would be treated as guests of honour. And like I said, the enthusiasm that their fans show towards our club on social media suggests we would.

Yes it happens at every game in Turkey
Just different cultures

It's acceptable to them and something we do not understand, which is surprising really when you consider United fans and the love of flares we seem to have

Still don't understand the "bastard" chants, it was a spent flare chucked down to the edge of the stadium where nobody was in any danger

They didn't throw flares on the pitch last time. One was dropped on the lower tier, and even that didn't look intentional.

On any given week, social media is full of ordinary Fenerbahçe fans posting messages of support for us. It's a nice thing, lets just appreciate it. It doesn't happen often.

To use a "Tylerism"..... Fuck Fenerbahce, I didn't see them and their fans throwing themselves under buses for us when that ugly cunt Tevez scored against Man Utd, set of cunts.

On a serious note, it's good to have an allegiance with a set of nutters, we need one of the South American mental teams on our side next, we did almost sign Maradona after all.

They regularly take a Blades flag to away games.

It's a great affiliation to have!

I enjoyed more than a few beers with some of their fans before the friendly game and can't praise them enough . They were amongst the most passionate supporters I've ever come across . It was a humbling experience when they told us how much of an honour they thought it was to be playing us in a friendly . They were nothing at all like I expected them to be if I'm brutally honest .

Turkey is a country I've never visited and I've never really wanted to visit . But if a friendly was arranged there against Fenerbache I'd be there like a shot .

Been once back in the 80s. Ventured inland and it's beautiful. Terrorism even back then and stopped us going back (plus the dodgy guts).

Tyler. Despite your Fenerbache love-in, you obviously weren't there. I was in the South Stand that day and clearly saw a flare lobbed onto the pitch.

To prove my memory is not failing me, you may wish to watch:-

Nice commentary too, how about we twin with Potty Vale or Bolton instead?

Coming back to Fener, I was in TK Maxx yesterday, and they had Fenerbahce shirts for €12 each. Nearly got one.

Its obviously a culture thing - I'd love to attend an Instanbul derby game

'When in Rome' and all that

Did it years ago. I was in with the Fener fans. Most mental football experience ever; flaming animal heads, stabbings, pyro on pyro and that was all 2 hours before kick-off.

Must say I've liked Fenerbahce for quite a while now, I remember going to Turkey quite a number of years ago now (2006/7 maybe?) And Fenerbahce had just won the league. I ended up getting their top and sporting it along the streets, as we walked past a number of shops we were excitedly invited in by the locals to free tea, Turkish delight and even got a free pair of sunnies  I recall my dad talking to them saying we were Blades fans, and what do you know a few years later we play them pre-season. Can I be foreign ambassador yet?:D
And they try and sell you a rug?
