Many people won't have heard of CEEFAX.
It was what we had before High-speed broadband and Social Media.![]()

Fucking how much? He’s been mugged. At £15 a pop my enthusiasm has wained
Booked many a holiday via ceefax. Used to take about an hour to cycle through the pages, by which time the £89 holiday to Crete had gone and you’re starting againMany people won't have heard of CEEFAX.

Used to love ceefax for the footy on a Saturday and in midweek. Having said that we didn’t have a great deal of alternatives.
Me and a few mates if the blades weren’t playing gathered in one of our parents houses. William Hills coupon in hand (no on line betting in those days) and flicking through the ceefax pages from 3pm to see where the goals were going in and how our coupons were doing.
One that will haunt me forever was when my coupon was up with most matches done. Was just waiting for Rangers to finish who were winning 2 1 against Hearts and 60 quid was mine. I should add that in those days I was on a training scheme earning about 30 quid a week.
I asked my mate to flick back onto the page where the jocks games were and just as he did it showed a 94th minute equaliser for Hearts.
Took me about 2 weeks to friggin get over it.
Anyway I digress. Great mug![]()
