XG is the biggest bollocks statistic ever represented in football.

I really like what XG is trying to do. But I have to admit, it seemed odd yesterday that West Ham finished up on over 3XG & ourselves 0.98XG. I felt like West Ham were probably the better side (slightly) but I would have thought McGoldrick, Robinson & Baldock (x2) would have equated to more expected goals than 0.98..

I’ve no idea how the stattos assign an XG to Robinson’s header. It was a must-score position, but the goalie’s fingernails made it virtually impossible to adjust. Is there a reaction time metric thrown into the calculation?
