Spotted this article today - bet someone posted it last year - but I must have missed it.

A Disaffected Day Out at Bramall Lane

Anyway - it kinda summed up my recent experiences over the last 3-4 years of attending home matches and could have been written about last Saturday's game vs Charlton.

I look forward to the pre match pub bit, some good local ale and witty pre match banter - and if we decide to do so, the post match chow (commonly on London Road) and I love going back to my spiritual home - given I was born and bred in Sheffield but have lived over 100 miles away for 25 years plus - to BDTBL but then something invariably spoils it - the game.

The article in the link just goes to show that "Same Owd, Same Owd" resonates loudly still.

Off to read the link called "Left Back In The Changing Room" - apparently it's about divorcing your club.
If the rub of the green on 16th October continues to grate as it has recently (being shit / bad luck are pretty common bed fellows I think) then there may be a few contemplating just that at 15:00 that afternoon.

Not me though. Blade for life = suffer for life. Cannot change it. Would not change it. Stuck with it till I die (even if I do moan about it a bit on the way)

Doesn't really resonate with me to be honest. The main complaints are prices of extras (such as burgers and polo shirts) being too high and advertisements being displayed. The first doesn't bother me because I never bothered with the extras anyway, and the second because advertisements are part of every day life living in a free market capitalist society. I'd rather live with advertisements than the alternative.

The bit about hundreds of Stewards being there to force you to sit down and shut up would resonate if it were true, but it isn't. If you want to stand up and sing at Bramall Lane, the Stewards don't stop you, providing you have the good manners and sense to put yourself somewhere where you don't block the view of others (i.e. at the back).

The "Left Back In The Changing Room" article is more interesting, posing the question - what, if anything, would make you divorce your club? There's nothing particular about United which makes me feel that way. Infinitely irritating though the lack of success, and lurching from one financial crisis to the next, may be - I've kind of come to accept it as what I bought into. If, in my remaining life time, some success is by some miracle achieved, the long years of disappointment to get there will make it all the sweeter.

umm good post workington but i have to take you up on that sentence. they are a bunch of w**kers for the most part IME

Fair enough, it probably depends upon where you are. I'm at the back of the Kop, around gangway E. The stewards there are fine.

We always stand by the Malta hotel advert at the bottom of the kop, stewards fine there too!
