After extensive research I've discovered that the Blades have generally performed well and won loads of matches when we've had at least one redhead in the team.

I.e. 2002-2003 Stuart McCall
2011-2012 Stephen Quinn
2012-2013 Dave Kitson

I'm ignoring the other seasons we didn't do so well with those players because there were probably other reasons for our poor performance.

I'm also excluding Andy Campbell because he didn't play very well for us and Jimmy Johnstone because he was too small.

If Barry Robson gets in the team and we do well I think that will prove the thesis beyond all doubt.
If we don't do well, it's because he's not really ginger, he's strawberry blonde.

(Sorry Bergs, just joshing) ;)

In Jimmy's case it wasn't smallness that was the problem, it was drinking capacity

Swiss will be on shortly to let you know that Campbell should be included while Pinchy will tell you Quinn's not particularly ginger. ;)

Don't forget we got promoted in 05-06 with Tommy Johnson in the squad, thereby completely and utterly proving your thesis to be correct :)

There is a lot of mileage in this. We always need a ginge in the side...

However there is always a down side to these copper topped superstars. That is, their powers can only carry the side so far.

And when we reach the play off final, it's too bloody hot for them and they fry down the sunny side.

What we need is an Aussie in the side. Aussies such as Viduka and Kewell were fantastic during the warmer parts of the season August-sept then April-may, they go missing during the cold periods, despite wearing all manner of warming garments such as gloves and ear warmers

Carney had no chance he was a ginger Aussie.
