Well would you Adam and Eve that we go into this game looking for a 5th consecutive league win and whilst that would better Mr Adkins achievements for consecutive wins, it would be even better if we could go on an early run to replicate or better that of Mr Nigel Clough who drove us to 10 consecutive wins back in February 2014. Of course in that fantastic run of form only 7 of the wins were in the league, the other three formed part of a fantastic bit of giant killing in the cup that eventually led us to a semi-final day at Wembley against Hull City.. a game we will all remember quite well I am sure?

The Opposition's squad:-

On Tuesday night, 6 players who played in the 0-2 win against us in the final game of the season last term were in the starting line up for Scunthorpe. The seem to have kept a solid core of the team but Graham Alexander looks to have done some decent shopping in the bargain bin this summer as a good few have arrived on free transfers.

Kevin Van Veen is a bit of an interesting one for us Blades fans. If we are to believe what the media said back in 2014 we were in for the player as well as the pigs, Doncaster and Scunthorpe......He started pretty quietly for his current club but this season he seems to have well and truly found his form with 6 games to his name already.

Josh Morris is another interesting one because he could well be one of the best signings in this league this season. The 24 year old midfielder joined Schunthorpe on a free transfer from Bradford City in the summer and he is absolutely ripping the league apart as the top goalscorer on 7 goals (6 league) and an EFL Player Of The Month award to go with it.....

A finally Paddy Madden.....I won't bold him but he is some what a decent talisman in this league and some what a thorn in our side. He will most likely partner Van Veen up top and with these two we will very much have to have our wits about us.

The Opposition's form so far:-

Well if Peterborough were tough then you have to say that Scunthorpe on paper are a hell of a lot tougher!

Our opponents sit comfortably at the top of the league having opened the season on a flyer with a game unbeaten run consisting of four wins and a draw. This finally came to an end in a 3-1 loss away at Port Vale, a game which inflicted their only loss this season so far.

When it comes to home form, Scunthorpe have been exemplary so far. They might have only played four games at Glanford Park but three of these have been quality hammerings of Gillingham, Southend and Bristol Rovers...Three games in which they scored a combined 12 goals and only conceded the one goal, which is unreal to say the least. The other game at home for Scunthorpe was on Tuesday night and that ended in a bore draw therefore we are hoping to be the first team this season to go to their place and come away with maximum points.

Scunny's Last 5 league games.

Schunthorpe 0 - 0 Charlton
Shrewbury 0 - 1 Schunthorpe
Scunthorpe 4 - 0 Southend
Port Vale 3 - 1 Scunthorpe
Scunthorpe 5 - 0 Gillingham

Goals scored in last 5 games = 11
Goals Concedes in last 5 games = 3

Total League Form

P 8 W5 D2 L1 GS 18 GC 7 PTS 17

Key men = Josh Morris (7 goals), Kevin Van Veen (6 goals).

And Finally we have The Betting!

Scunthorpe 6/4 Draw 19/10 Blades 12/5

Scunthorpe edge the betting right across the board however what with them being table toppers our our recent form, the betting is quite open.

Needless to say that most of the betting money is being placed on the home team which is understandable on home form alone......A few still fancy us and we are grabbing about 25% of the bets and interestingly there aren't that many people fancying a draw.
