Yesterday’s game v Burnley was unique in several ways. The first ever home league match United have played on May 23rd. The first time the last match of the season has been the first any fans have been allowed into the ground. No doubt it was unique in other ways.
May 24, 1947, was similarly unique, not because of a pandemic, but because of a long hard winter. The season was extended because of all the postponed matches, and to the best of my knowledge the 3-2 home defeat to Preston is the only time United have ever played a home league game on May 24th. At the time, I did not appreciate the significance.

well Im an optimist , but moved to spain and my adopted local team Elche have just stayed up on the last day beating atletico bilbao 2-0
and just overtaking Huesca, so Im no better off here in terms of having anything but struggle
but I still smile everyday on the beach
