We were pre-season favourites for promotion but we didnt have a good start in the 1970-71 season. We lost 3-1 at Orient, beat Swindon 2-1 at home, lost 1-0 at Norwich, drew 1-1 at Cardiff. Morale wasnt high during the home game against Bristol City as a crowd of only 15,097 saw the away side lead by three goals midway through the second half. In Green Un's match report it said "Just after Gerry Gow had put Bristol City three up, three angry Blades fans were led out of the ground by a policeman". A wonder strike by Woody and a Dearden goal reduced the arrears and the in the last minute sub Tudor hooked in the equaliser after a overhead pass by Hemsley inside the boxBristol City 1970.jpg

So, the best team we've had in the last 90 years couldn't beat Bristol City in them days either then
