5th place could earn a Champions League spot next year

Just heard the European expert on Talksport explaining that UEFA are currently in a battle with Man City in the courts regards their FFP rules.
He said that UEFA seem to want to get tough and hope to ban Man City in order to show other clubs they are serious about financial irregularities.

If they are found guilty (which apparently is possible) then they could receive a ban from Europe starting next season.
The reporter confirmed that it would mean that 5th place would qualify for the Champions League.
