1. Cloughie has not become a bad manager overnight. His judgement was sound last season both tactically and with transfers. He's had to replace his 3 best players which inevitably takes time but he will sort things out.

2. McGahey: early days but looks a very capable replacement for Maguire. He will only get better.

3. James Wallace: seems like Cloughie opted for him over Coady. Based on point 1, above, there's every reason to believe he'll prove to be a good player. We just need him on the pitch.

4. The team has better striking options - Higdon and McNulty - who have already shown they can finish if given decent service. Surely a better goals per game ratio can be expected .

5. There is genuine competition for places across the team which didn't exist last season.

Wallace is not a good thing until he actually plays regularly and makes a difference.

In this regard, his Wikipedia page suggests he has had major injury problems for each of the last 4 seasons. His career high for games in a season is 21. Not encouraging.

Genuine competition is meaningless if the reason for it is everyone is not very good. That applies to our back 4, unfortunately.

I agree re Clough and the forward line. Jury's out on McGahey for me.

13. We have got a superb Academy system; Reed, Di Maio, Khan, Willis, Diego are all close to the first team and hopefully we'll see them get in this year.

14. Our tickets are some of the cheapest in the Football League.

15. Whilst a lot of our players are underperforming, at least we know they do have ability to be top drawer players at this level - Scougall, Murphy, Flynn, etc.

So far it is Chris Basham who's been put in Coady's position, also in the pre season games when Wallace played a bit. Wallace seems to be Doyle's planned replacement.

Hey, which means they are all a year closer to being sold allowing us to comply with the FFP rules, yippee!

Standard response prompted by standard actions by our board. ;) But I will take the points Rodley. Do you get extra points for mentioning the freehold?

19. I am playing Golf tomorrow.
20. Regardless of what div we are in or the shenanigans of our board, I still get a buzz every time I go to the Lane.

Freehold is 2 points, as is use of "same owd". Baxter is looking fat is 4 points.

One or two of those academy lads played against a strong Rotherham team last season and all impressed, though some were on the pitch longer than others, most oft them have hardly been seen since except for Reedy. Yet we are still persisting with Flynny etc who are underperforming, get one or two of those lads in to give 'em a kick up the backside.

Team in a dream world from the players we have had in the four season's in league one;
Howard
Lowton Maguire Collins Harris
Williamson Mcdonald Doyle Quinn
(He that shall not be named) Higdon (couldn't think of anyone else didn't really rate Blackman)

I'm depressed to be in league one now and we are destined to be here for years to come, think about the players we have seen in our team since we was relegated!!! How are we still in this league

There might be 23 reasons to be cheerful but there are 100 reasons not to be!
