Happy with the points total and position so far however....we need to carry on / keep doing what got us here. We need to revert back to Fleck and Norwood as a flat two and one in front. Clearly, at the moment, that man is Freeman. We look far less fluid at the moment and our build up play is too direct because we are missing the link up player. That one in the hole was key to our overlapping centre backs.

Agreed, but a good amount are lying to themselves that we are playing the same style of footie. Right now with this 3142 we are too stagnant with very little dynamic elements to our play. I understand what this current shape is trying to achieve but it is far from making us “more solid”.

I agree with you as the lowest price for the scorching weather and the weather was very good and I was interviewed for the last 6 months waiting for the first half of the best strikers I have seen the last couple of seasons too according to the highest bidder.

I would say it’s more 3-5-2 but we should be playing 3-4-1-2 with Freeman playing in the hole. Don’t mind whether it’s Lunny or Fleck at the side of Norwood.

Overall I think we've been quite comfortable from open play. There's been few occasions when teams have managed to play through us when we've had players behind the ball. We've also done well in preventing counter attacks, although individual mistakes have set some up and cost us.

When you look at the teams we have played, is 5 points really good enough? Call me overly critical if you wish, but I’d say it’s bare minimum.

We look how we did when Duffy didn't play last season. Don't care if he is 33 and a fool who is on the bench for Stoke - we miss him. Freeman has to play in that role with no Duffy.

Really looking forward to the Sunderland game. Maybe we can experiment with an attacking midfielder. Might be tricky though because Sunderland are a very powerful football club with some very good football players.

I disagree. We always looked 6/10 when lining up with a flat 3 in midfield last year and the year before. Look at Norwich. They’ve kept their system and are thriving, scoring goals at will. Yes they look shaky at the back but always did last year. They’ve also got shit loads of injuries but have put ‘lesser players’ in there and relied on the system that got them here and it’s working. Don’t be fooled by the rhetoric of ‘Premier League is miles above’. Yes they spend 20x the money that championship clubs do but not always. And certainly not 20x the quality. Bournemouth’s squad probably cost less than West Brom’s, or similar. It’s just hype. SkySportsTV. We were fine going from league one to the championship with our system, and that’s arguably a bigger jump than championship to prem.

Go bollocks out, Wilderball or not at all. We’ve watched this side outfootball teams for 3 years. Teams like Everton and Southampton, while have good players have forgotten how to win consistently and aren’t nearly as organised as us. It’s our system and discipline and playing on the front foot and will to find a way to win games that teams have been unable to cope with, not our league 2 and league 1 signings. They’re just a part of the system. Barely any of them would necessarily get a game for other prem teams, and I don’t mean that disrespectfully. If you take them out of this system they will look vulnerable and that’s what we’re currently watching. Wilder can say these players need to shed the ‘dont Deserve to be here’ attitude, but I think he needs to set them up to play that way too. I think he will, because everything I’ve thought about united and what we need to do, he has done either before or very quickly after it’s become apparent. He’s the master and I’ve come to fully expect him to do what’s right for the club.

I do agree that we need to cut out the individual mistakes because that’s currently cost us 4 goals by my count so far this season in 5 games but I don’t agree that we ‘can’t dominate possession at this level like we could in the champ’ because.. have you seen some of these teams play? They’re clueless. We controlled possession for the majority of the Bournemouth game, the entirety of the palace game, the second half of the Leicester game and pretty much all of the Chelsea game. They’re all there for the taking, we just need to play on the front foot and take them.

That’s my two penneth anyway.

Just a thought, but could we revert back to a 3-4-1-2 and see Lunny in the RCB role? I think he is roughly the same height as bash, good defensively, great long ball/cross on him, I know bash is super fit but surely Lunny isn’t too far behind him in that respect? Could be an absolute revelation and free bash up for a super sub role, he’d be very valuable on the bench, because he can be brought on and we can change the system and be incredibly flexible.

What’s everyone think about that? Might need to be tried in a carling cup game but could be great.
