Freekick (stupidly) given away on the apex of the area, Allen allowed to place the ball 4 yards inside thus creating a better angle to shoot...and does so. Cheers.

When was the last time a player placed a dead ball on the exact spot the fouls was commuted.

They can’t even take a corner from within the D and that’s the size of a dinner plate and marked with a 4 inch thick line

Said out loud here, Henderson is too near to his right post, he is inching too far to the right,.... oh fuck... !
Should never get beaten like that

Said exactly the same

Foul takes place close to the angle of the penalty area and gets taken from about a yard to the right of the D

Never a foul to start with but obviously the ref had to give it because it was Peter Crouch

Check where our free kick was taken from (for our goal) and where the foul took place. We did exactly the same.

Chill, we'll be reight.

Any neutral watching that would sooner be a Blade than a Potter.

The wall was changed, Clarke was on that end, Wilder moved him off then they all shifted down a little and Washington joined the other side.

The keeper was crouched down trying to see through....

Allen simply chose the easiest route to goal.

We seemed to expect a chipped effort over the wall as we put three of our tallest players in it. Then we seemed unsure and swapped O'Connell (who was central of the three) with Fleck who lined up to Clarke's right. This meant Basham tucked in to cover the gap left by O'Connell, i.e. the wall was probably moved a bit central, leaving a gap at the near post.

Henderson can be seen pointing to the left, but O'Connell (who seemed to be receiving Henderson's orders) is gone and Clarke and Basham aren't listening. They may be moving slightly to the left eventually, but not enough.

Even with the original wall Henderson seems to organise the wall from a central position. Shouldn't he be standing at his left post to tell where the wall should be?

We gave away a few daft free kicks after the goal. In fact we did more daft things in the last 15 then at any time in the previous 75. Is it a mental thing or a physical one?

I think if we had managed to convert another chance then seeing off Stoke would have been far simpler. Fine margins and all that.

Mental. We give away the initiative every time we go in front.

Not seen a replay but was it remotely a foul at all?

Yes.

It was never a foul for the free kick. Just seen it back.
Please post it if you can - I was sat in the John Street with a clear view and it looked like the clearest, most stupid free kick to give away. Nobody where we were sat was in any doubt whatsoever, we just couldn’t understand why Stevens had done it!

No. Clever from Crouch I suppose but never a foul.

Refs will give them 9 times out of 10 - as soon as he jumps and the players levers into him no matter how little the contact; he will give a foul. Idiotic from Stevens. Let him win it and get the 2nd ball.

Henderson should never be getting beat at his near post. End of story.

We were in BL upper directly in line with it , Basham was screaming at Hendo asking was the wall far enough across .. bit I can’t get me head around is we had 4 centre halves on Stearman , Basham , O’Connell & Egan ,, all they done after bringing Crouch was knock long diagonals into him ..somebody decided that let Stevens pick him up instead of the 4 CH’s ????

Basham was very unhappy at where the wall was and just didn't seem to know what Henderson meant them to do. It seemed a complete cock up between goalie and the wall. I've not seen such a lack of understanding for a free kick, for a long while.

Agree NYB .. piss poor goal to concede from all aspects as I’ve just said on other thread why wasn’t one of the 4 CH’s picking Crouch up instead of Stevens when all they’d done is aim everything at him
