I’m waiting to see Wilder’s reaction after the window slams shut.

1. We signed the players he wanted he’s appy.

2. We didn’t get all the players he wanted but he’s appy we genuinely tried.

3. We didn’t sign any of the players he wanted he’s not appy and walks.

4. We didn’t sign any of the players he wanted but he remains appy and stays.

5. We didn’t sign any of the players he wanted he issues a media statement declaring war on the owners and unites the fans behind him.

If it’s scenario 4 then for me he knew we weren’t likely to get any real investment and basically used threats of quitting as a way to get a fatter contract for himself.

3&4 are obvs the least desirable outcomes.

1&2 are obvs the most.

I could live with 5.

We are still relying on 3 30+ year olds who had excellent seasons being just as good again in Duffy, Sharp and Clarke. They could do but they're at an age where decline can start.

With such a lack of options in the final third even a small drop off from them will have a huge effect on our ability to score (which was already a problem).

If everyone from last year matches the same levels of the second half of the season we should just about be ok. Hopefully we'll see improvements from JOC, Stevens, Baldock, Freeman, Leonard, Lundstram etc. But I'd feel a lot more comfortable with some real reinforcements

Feck me, Blades fans are selfish tw@ts.

We've had eight years of mismanagement that saw us fall fromt PL t' 3rd tier, spent 6 years in lower league wilderness watching negative football, we've had a divided fan base ripping chunks off each other, seen out young talent used to save the owners brass and a succession of poor managers.

Then we have two great seasons, record points haul, attractive football, growing support, promotion, a storming start to our championship return, talk of promotion back to the PL, revenge of the Boxing Day defeat and a united fan base.

And now, just because in a few short months the wheels have fallen off, the owners are in court, the fans are divided, our young talent is being sold off on the never never to prop up the arguing owners, we can't afford or attract average players, McCabe still thinks we can run the club like it were in the 90's everyone's moaning.

Stop it, we had 2 good seasons. Petulance is needed and another good spell in the lower leagues to bring us back to reality.

Apart from Leeds away, when Brooks came on and scored the winner, I'm struggling to see where he 'came on and nicked 3 points'. He scored a similar, cracking goal at Millwall (where he started the game) but we lost 1-3. His other goal came in a 2-0 home win against Burton.

He started ten games, was substituted five times and came on as sub. 20 times.
I didn’t mean him specifically scoring goals. I meant the impact he made coming on that lead to us scoring.

It's beginning to feel like a 'fire sale' now. Get as many off our books as possible because we're skint. Is that 10 out so far and one in?

Who is actually left?

Henderson, Long (going?), Eastwood, Moore (going?)
Stevens, Lafferty, O'Connell, Basham, Stearman, Wright (injured), Baldock, Freeman
Fleck, Duffy, Evans, Coutts (injured), Leonard, Holmes, Lundstram, Slater (going)
Sharp, Clarke, Lavery, Evans (going)

Start of the season, it potentially leaves us with:

Henderson, Eastwood
Stevens, Lafferty, O'Connell, Basham, Stearman, Baldock, Freeman
Fleck, Duffy, Evans, Leonard, Holmes, Lundstram
Sharp, Clarke, Lavery

We can just field a full squad!
