12 April 1968 1-2 Currie and Reece scored. We then in typical Blades fashion blew it on the last day of the season at home to Chelsea. I was there my first experience of relegation.I think we had a similar result when being relegated in the late 60's 1968 in fact.

Anyone got any tales to relate from this occasion??
In 1968, we were relegated, got through to the 6th round of the FA Cup and beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield on Good Friday.
Oh, and me and Cooky from Donny hitched all the way to Anfield and hitched a ride back on the team coach all the way back to Sheffield.
Now that's what I call an away day to remember
Not of the game didn't go but was at the return match a few days later when we drew 1-1. TC scored. We took 3 points off Liverpool who were going for the title and still got relegated. Silents match reports and photos in 68 confirm the pain we all felt losing 5 of our last 6 home matches. The worst being the loss to Fulham the bottom team when we were 2-0 up. Not much has changed in 56 years we still can't hold onto a lead.Anyone got any tales to relate from this occasion??
Add that to Deano's long lob at the lane where he's left flapping at thin air and he must have been absolutely rattled by usIt’s amazing how much football has changed in that period of time. You watch the highlights and the style of play on show is a millions miles from what we see when we watch now from both teams.
Simon Tracey still my favourite Blades keeper while I’ve been watching.
No wonder Steve Nicol hates us, he got smoked twice for the goals on that day
I remember it well. To think we still went down that season was gutting at the time.
In the home match v Liverpool on boxing day we drew nil nil but Flo had a one on one to score but passed it forward to Glyn Hodges I think it was and it was offside. I couldn't believe it on the kop!
I digress but I still reckon we'd have faired much better if we'd signed Lee Chapman in exchange for Deane plus the transfer fee they gave us. I'm sure they'd have still took that. Chapman would have been much better suited to playing for Harry then Flo was.
Flo was tall but nesh, sound familiar!?
Fjortoft was class though!
Yes, the second best actuallyI didn't know that, it must be one of the best sports headlines!
