I couldn't believe only 3 minutes was added on in the second half yesterday. I was fuming. As we were approaching the 90 minutes I could just sense that we might get a big break to nick it at the end. So when they signalled 3 minutes I was like.... what???? There were 5 second half subs (30 secs each) Dunk was down towards the end for a good 2 or 3 minutes. Then there was all the time wasting by the keeper and any other stoppages. I thought 7 minutes minimum would be played. I felt robbed, we were driving forward but just ran out of time.

Surely the officials made an error there? 3 fuckin minutes 😳

It's nothing new as time wasting is rewarded in football.

This was extreme though as I clocked the injury to around 2:15.

To be fair, if Mcburnie could score, we should've won it in 90mins.

What was most annoying was the ref warning their keeper about time wasting at every goal kick but refusing to book him. I had assumed that he would add on 7 or 8 minutes at least, given the subs and injuries in the second half. I think I would be in favour of the clock stopping if the ball wasn't in play, even if it meant games lasted longer.

as is usual in football they are behind the times.

You can either have independent timers like Rugby league or have a clued up ref saying "time off" for injuries and stoppages like Rugby union.

It needs taking out the hands of the on-field referee.

That’s cos he was yet another clueless bottle less cunt.

I was thinking at least 6mins with all the subs made, Dunk injured and VAR looking for a red card, McBurnie getting his nose splattered near the end too and that's all before you consider any of the time wasting every goal kick took about half a minute.

I think generally they have stopped adding on time for VAR stoppages. Probably eating into TV companies advertising slots

I'm usually quite accurate in my added time guess. I thought 6 mins and couldn't believe it when he put up 3. Even the stadium announcer seemed to say it in a sarcastic way.

What about their keeper, loads of times wasted including the referee walking upto the penalty box several times and gesturing to play on. Must have happened half a dozen times and no yellow card.

Dont even mention the time stopped to burst the balloons ;)

Ref should have booked that long haired twat when he was subbed, he came back on the field of play at the lane end then gesticulating to all on the south stand till he got to the dug outs, prick
To be fair to him, he self-imposed the quickly forgotten rule of taking the fastest route off the pitch, and his wandering back on at the lane end didn't cause the match to be delayed. He'd been getting pelters from our fans and gave a bit back, which I personally love to be honest.

Going off at a tangent , them Blue Balloons able to last out 93 mins was amazing , how could the staff not want to Bust those bastard things:mad::mad:🦶🦶🦶👠🎩🥿🥿👟👟🥾🥾👡👡👢👢👠👠🥿🥿🥾🥾👟👟👞👞👢👢👡👡👠👠🗑🗑🗑🗑🔨🔨🔨🔨⚒⚒⚒⚒⛏⛏⛏⛏⛏⛏⛏⛏⛏⛏⛏⛏💉💉💉💉💉💉📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌📌

This 100% needs to happen. Football is an attacking game, and previously football bodies have moved to ensure that the game stays this way (the pass back rule as a result of Denmark at Euros 92 for example). The FA/Fifa should move to stamp out time wasting more stringently and nullify the advantage gained by 'game management'. For example, give 10 seconds for goal kicks before the clock stops, no ifs or buts.

Gesticulating? He was giving some abuse back. If you can't handle it, don't give it out...

This was written in 2018 but the average time the ball was in play in a Prem match was 59 minutes. The lowest time was 42 minutes and the most was 68.

So the problem seems to be that football has reached the point where none of us know how long the ball's been in play, how much should really be added, or even how long we think a game should be. The solution would probably be to lower the length of matches but stop the clock and ensure that length of time is actually played but that might be such a huge overhaul to the way the game is played I'm not sure how many people would want to experiment.

It's a bit like the royal family. You can get a lot of people sympathetic to the idea that we should do away with unelected hereditary do-nothings, but far fewer people want to actually open the minefield of rewriting the entire constitutional arrangement of the country. And so we're stuck with convention.

I really cannot believe with the introduction of VAR that they aren’t stopping the clock. Not a chance are they taking the time it takes to check something into account. There was a good minute wasted checking that Lundstram challenge in the second half but god knows how much playing time has been lost this season because of VAR alone.

Also I’m sick to the back teeth of the referee pointing at his watch and doing fuck all about time wasting. It’s like a parent counting to 3 to stop a toddler from pissing about.

To be fair, he took the abuse in good nature.
