Has anybody noticed there's a fairly important match at the Lane tonight? :)

Ipswich fans think they're going to go for about 7 (literally), but it's the type of game we ALWAYS make hard work of.

I'll go for a scrappy 1-0 win.

It'll be interesting to see who comes in down the left now Treacy is injured. I'd give Reid a go, I don't particularly like to see Quinn playing on the wing.

Yes i had noticed. Been pondering the odds of Keane getting the sack should we win.

As you say a game for which we should easily win will more than likely be a difficult match for both players and supporters alike, and although my heart says 3-0 my head doesnt even want to contemplate the result.

To be honest, I dont particularly like to see Reid in a Sheff Utd shirt!

We make good opposition when the opposing team is on a bad run. derby for example. :D

It's just never that simple with us Ipswich!? We like to give a helping hand to teams below us or a gift of their first win of the season.

However, Ipswich are awful and I fancy the Blades to get back on track tonight. Comfortable 3-0 win with Evans and S Quinn both on the score sheet.

An evening of sod's law at Bramall Lane!!

honestly, with our defense as shakey as has been - i'm going on the books for a 5-3 victory to the blades....i reckon it's gonna be goals galore tonight!!!

Nailed on the struggling team to triumph at the Lane.
Sounds like another ricket from Bunn.
Cannot stretch to the corners of the goal. That's three in three he has fluffed.

Time to put Plan B into action.
Oh, sorry forgot that we don't have a Plan B.
Ipswich will now hang on and waste time throughout the second half whilst we try to batter through them, get more and more frustrated and get nowhere.

What the hell has happened to that solid defense?

What a fucking embarrassment. We score, then immediately go on the back foot, invite pressure on ourselves, allow a shite team to dictate the play, and voila-1 nil up to 2-1 down in 3 easy moves. What's more, when we're up against it,what do we do?We lump it forward like a pub team.

When the kop are ole'ing any move of more than 2 passes, then you know how shit it really is.

And now, they bring on Stead to deliver the final blow. What can we offer? Richard Fucking Cresswell.I ask you. We're less SUFC,more the Dog and Bastard Duck..

We're still screwed. Trust me. Our defence can't hold out for 45 minutes.

But we cannot break teams down. Swansea beat us at the weekend after they went down to 10 men. Last season we couldn't break down a determined Forest side who had every man back behind the ball and wasted time whenever they could. We were too one dimensional. We will be the same again. You will hold out against us, especially since you don't have your first choice defence. Game over.

A relief to get the late equaliser especially for me but what were we doing for their goals! Ipswich didnt have their first shot on target on saturday until the 85th minute and yet went 3-1 up against us away from home. To all those that went tonight..a report would be welcome.

Well, that was painful. A point is better than none, but do we have to channel the Keystone Kops? Maybe it's because I can only listen instead of seeing the play, but it sounds like they're running around like chickens with their heads cut off . . . or not running, just standing there . . . or so busy yelling at each other that we're not watching the ball. Is that really the way it is out there?

Kudos to Morgs for staying with the plot.

And UTB (though I'm feeling kind of cranky about it at the moment). :shakehead:

I love how it was painful for both teams. No one went home happy.

Happy isnt a concept readily embraced by a lot of Blades fans, even if we had won 6-0 they would still not grasp the concept of Happy.

Fair play to Ipswich, they were the better team on the night and are probably the most upset, we salvaged a point we didnt really merit on our overall performance.

Enjoy the rest of the season. I could of course substitute enjoy for happy in the above.;)

Thought it was an incredibly woeful defensive performance from us. Flashes (and indeed they were JUST flashes) of brilliance once every 40 mins isn't going to get us promoted.

More ridiculous goals - Bunn should have gotb to the second - appauling!

More importantly - if Cotterill ever starts another game in a Sheff Utd shirt i'll be calling for Blackie's head....i can't believe how little faith i have in our gaffer as i'm never usually one to call for managers heads but i can actually feel myself boiling with rage about his tactical choices and team selections in the last few matches...

Positives:
+ Glen Little was brilliant once he was on
+ Morgs - brilliant

Ipswich were, frankly, rubbish. This was masked in part by the fact that we were worse for much of the game. I'm sure that anybody who watched Ipswich get tonked by Newcastle on telly last Saturday would agree that Ipswich were lucky to get nil, against a Newcastle team that didn't look too special.

When we finally tried to pass the ball along the nicely mowed grass instead of stealing airspace from Sierra Yankee 99 we didn't look too bad, but that was too little and too late. Roy Keane must be feeling rather unlucky, and might indeed be reflecting that his side deserved their first win of the season. The result last night for me papered over the cracks in what was mainly an abject performance against a truly woeful team.

We have proved that we can play a decent passing game, but we haven't done it very often - two minutes here and five minutes there simply isn't good enough.
