Full transcript of the Q&A appearing here - http://www.s24su.com/showthread.php?18530-23-04-10-Q-amp-A-with-Birch-amp-McCabe-Full-Transcript

Radio Sheffield will be broadcasting the Q&A on Friday evening from 19:00 - 20:00. It'll be available on the usual frequencies and via their website (LINKY)

The Chair for Saturday morning's session has asked us to gather reaction and further questions which arise from Friday's Q&A so that this can be put to Mr McCabe and Mr Birch the following morning.

So if there were any responses you don't feel were comprehensive enough. Or if TB or KMc has said anything you particularly agree or disagree with, pop your comments in this thread and just like the questions before, these will be passed on.

Ta.

Thread now unlocked.

Please use this thread for any discussion or reaction to tonight's Q&A sessions.

Cheers.

Eyes down, eyes down - anyone claiming a full house see Trevor after for a free easter egg.

'Worldwide financial crisis'
'Re-profiling'
'Unforeseen set of circumstances'
'Time is right for me to get out'
'Time for everyone to show some good old fashioned Sheffield backbone'
'The Valad situation has caused me a few problems but SUFC will never become reliant on the worldwide property market for as long as I am about'
'I personally talked Kevin Blackwell into staying and I am pleased I did so.'
'All clubs have a small but vocal minority - we are no different'
'The vast majority of people I speak to are happy with Kevin Blackwell in charge'
'Trevor is talking to Club 9 about potential investment next weekend - I believe they are in town - watch this space'
'I'm not commenting on that, look in the accounts - it could not be clearer'
'I don't speculate on speculation'
'Chengdu will work out - I assure you of that'
'We have played some attractive football this season - I have seen it on DVD in Brussells and Sydney with my own eyes and Kevin tells me on the phone every weekend we create 20 chances a match'
'Kevin Blackwell is as honest as the day is long - no manager works harder than Kevin to achieve success. He is my type of manager'
'Kyle Walker did not want to leave SUFC but money talks'

Typical knee-jerk reaction. ('Jerk' being the operative word)

Let's get a lynch mob going before we've heard what they have to say....

initial comment - why has mccabe said the word curse about 10 times already in 15 minutes. Is there anyone at the club willing to take responsibility or are they all happy to blame bad luck?

He didn't know the figure. Various and random £2m, £3m mentioned by both of em. He did say he'd get the information though.

Some good questions so far imo. Excellent stuff.

Totally agree. Injuries and bad luck. No mention of management

Definite contradictions between what McCabe is saying and what Blackwell tells us week in week out.

Birch has a very, very unfortunate tone of voice for someone who I assume is meant to be positive and upbeat.

Seth doing very well imo, fair play.

Kevin Blackwell:
"The problem is there will be six loan players who will all go back to their clubs, and I think we have got seven out of contract. We are talking about 14 players leaving and that only leaves me nine or 10 players under contract.

"We have got to go and get 12/14 players in the summer so whatever happens it is going to be a big, big building job."

McCabe just said it's 16 players under contract and 14 is an exaggeration. It's just confusing me more than answering to be honest.

'Major, major recession, with social problems.' Quality stuff. Blaming social problems a new one.

Only caught the end of it.

We could have alot lot worse owners than McCabe. I've got faith in him. IF a investment happened all his cash tied up in the club will STAY in the club. That's a great thing to have.

Not heard it but judging by the comments on here and the other site, I feel really, really sorry for the folk who turned up to hear a load of complete bilge.

I really wasn't expecting to say this but I was impressed with that. I agree about the Blackwell disparities although I'm tending towards putting that down to his usual tendency of letting his mouth run away with itself a little. They did sound very measured and determined tonight. Blackie can come across as being caught in the headlights sometimes. It would help if they all got their facts straight re contracted players.

not particularly happy with the way that went. felt for a Q&A session seth was involved too much instead of more fans being given the chance to ask questions or more time spent discussing their questions/making sure that they had actually answered the question. Too many questions allowed that were almost identical/asking something that they'd already discussed.

also to hear mccabe try and suggest that nobody could have been complaining about our performances last season given that we reached a playoff final was annoying. he's right performances were good for blackwell's first 6 months UNTIL he was offered a contract. Performances have quickly but almost consistently got worse since then and that includes massive periods of last season as well as this.

Still not enough overall responsibility taken for me. we ended up spending £14m and looked likely to finish mid table. we haven't used the youth system effecively. we started the season with gaps in our squad for cover at left fullback/right fullback, centre back and up front. we let sharp go without a recall clause because it meant donny would accept paying his entire wage bill for the year. It frustrates me that they have suggested that with hindsight bad decisions were made when no hindsight should have been required, some things should be bloody obvious to people running or being employed professionally by the club. hindsight has taught us you can't get promotion having to rely on loanees - really! is hindsight really required? Given the obvious failings of management for this season I haven't heard anything to suggest that next season will really be any better unless they remove blackwell. They did suggest on a number of occasions many of the players we got in either weren't the right players or weren't good enough, they have argued exaggerations have been bandied around when most of these originated from blackwell himself.

As I said earlier the word curse along with bad luck was mentioned far too many times for my liking. We are in danger of becoming blinkered to the facts that yes good money has been invested this season but the way it has been invested and the way we have managed our resources is the main cause for us finishing in mid table most likely more than 10 points away from the playoffs and still possibly closer to relegation. As a club I feel we need to managed from the top by people willing to remove this ridiculous blame/woe is me culture that breeds animosity, negativity and apathy. We are the masters of our destiny, we have been preason, all season and will be next season and I want to hear someone at the club begin to try and promote this fact. Not in a bullshit "forward together" way like those filthy bastards at the sty with a stupid slogan but in a way that tells all players, employees and fans that we really are both ambitious and capable of putting in a genuine promotion push next season. We are Sheffield United and we are in danger of losing the values that set us aside from many other clubs unless we remove this aura of helplessness and reclaim some control over our future.

Not a chance of him selling up BB.

Not charging a penny interest.

Bob ...... i'm certain he will sell .......... he's just waiting for the right price. (In my opinion) :D not charging interst :D with the base rate at 0.5% its not a big deal

I thought they came across very well, especially McCable. Didn't duck answers or give politician answers despite some tough and persistent questioining by Seth Bennett (proof to those on here who said it would be easy or contrived questions - if you wanted one answering submit it and it will be asked). Good to hear that we will be pushing for promotion again, and that they are confident that Monty will sign on. Admittted mistakes have been made and that by the start of next season we hope to have a squad of permanent players and not so heavily reliant on loans. Also admitted that we need more out of the foreign ventures and the academy and that will be a priority. Also good to hear that we have no liability for Chengdu Blades but still have commercial rights and running of the club.
Its at times like this, even after a poor season when I realise how luck we are to have a Chairman like McCabe. Who is a Blade and one of us, and will never sell us down the river. With him around, at least we know the club is in safe hands and is ambitious without gambling the clubs future, unlike as he put it "Hull, Portsmouth, Palace and one or two big clubs who are still to come out of the woodwork".
I'd be interested in anything that was said after it went off air, if it did indeed carry on longer.

lenners, BB, if you didn't listen I personally feel you have no right to criticise.

Think they both came across very well, admitted a lot of failings. Don't think there is much more they could have said

We all knew that once RS got wind of this meeting that they would take it over and 'filter ' the questions for their own agenda . The questions we really wanted to hear answered seem to have been aired after the broadcast finished .
