One thing about this winter transfer window is that a lot of deals get done now, with only 1/3 of the season remaining.

I reckon it should be a December window.

I can't say I'm impressed with the incoming players this JTW. Still won't be that impressed if we do get Phillips and Rothwell, not sure what Man City saw in Phillips who I always saw as a clogger. It hasn't worked for him and after failed loans at WHU and Ipswich there are a few question marks against his name. Rothwell might be ok.
It all smacks to me of signings for the sake of keeping fans happy. Hjelde, well we had to get someone in as back up similar to the full back from Wolves. How long will it take to get Phillips fit having only played 7mins of football all season? I don't think he's had a lot of football over the last few years, gone downhill since he was in the England squad.

Looks like it's just the 2 then? Phillips covers a position where we are fragile, and whilst he might not be Prem quality anymore surely he can still do it well in the championship. I wonder if its a loan with a view to a permanent transfer?

Hjelde sounds like a traditional Sheff Utd left back loan in the Larouci/ Luke Thomas mold.

I dare say if we were in the top half we might have pushed the boat out further.. a top CB and a goalscorer.. but as things stand we cant expect too much.

Edit: just seen Rothwell is in too. More midfielders than you can shake a stick at!

All these midfielders in hmmm still time for Gus to be sold to one of the Dutch teams their JTW doesn't close until tonight.

A major positive for me, is we appear to have hung on to all our best players,Gus, Brooksy, Peck etc.Shouldn’t be underestimated.
Hjelde was last minute for obvious and understandable reasons, and something we had todo in the light of the injury to MacCallum.
Re Phillips if you listen to his interview, he didn’t get the call until yesterday, which smacks very much of a last minute punt, when all your preferred targets have gone elsewhere, or are staying put.
As for Rothwell if he was one of our main targets at the beginning of the window, why didn’t we do it then?Rangers were keen to offload?Think he was way down the list of targets.
Hopefully, they pan out to be masterstrokes, for which the Board and Wilder, will take all the credit, at the end of the season.
But, going forward the club do need to ask themselves why it is, we are not, hitting our main targets, and for 2 windows now, are taking players further down our list.By Wilder’s own admission we’ve missed at least a couple of our main targets.Is it because: we’re not willing to pay the going rate; or are we getting outbid by others;or perhaps,do the players in question and/or their present clubs, prefer other destinations, these days.After the 2 losses at Charlton and Southampton, our play off prospects would have been a much harder sell to players, I reckon.
Anyways, they are here now, so let’s get behind em, and the rest of the lads who are already here. Up the Blades
