So many options but all have flaws. Personally don't see how a reduced capacity can sensibly be policed. I assume families and *your social bubble " would be able to sit together so how would that be for stewards to manage.

As depressing as it is I don't think crowds will be back until start of 20/21_season. Hope I'm wrong though.

Random draw of ST and Membership holders for every match that's reduced capacity? ST people just get the seat, members are offered a ticket to purchase.

It's likely if there's reduced capacity your existing seat would be irrelevant anyway, as they'd put people wherever has the best access/ most bogs/ look on camera (basically bottom of the Kop and John Street I'd imagine, I think people would understand surely?

Don't think that would work because technically its would be possible that some season ticket holders/members could get to go to every game and some might not get to go to any.

Cricket seems to think they can have some % of crowds in by August which feels optimistic to me but I suspect they have been tipped off that's the plan.

It will be a while until all fans are let back in so while it's not ideal crowds will be let back in with a small percentage just to get money in especially in lower leagues.

And seeing as how champions league and Europa League goes on all of August it'll be some time in September.

Is that county championship cricket ?
Because if it is then most only get 1 man and his dog so there wouldn't be a problem social distancing anyway.

Watch either the 1st and 3rd, or 2nd and 4th quarter. Change seats with the other set of STs who wait on the concourse.
Simple.
So I've got to travel 120 miles round trip, to watch half a game? I'd rather watch every other home game.

For those saying all or nothing - why?

If clubs can manage the stadiums to get say 25-30% capacity for hopefully the first half of next season, we could devise a system where st holders get to 'take it in turns' and get to go to one in 3 or 4 matches.

Why wouldn't we make that effort if it was relatively safe to do so knowing that we can't pack in 100% of the capacity?

It's the same defeatist attitude as all the doom mongering about project restart imo.
Trying not to go all Nigel Adkins but lets have some positivity and can-do attitude 😉

I think you mean 2021/21

In theory, they can do a plot of all the ST seats, grouping friends and family clumps. Then checkerboard it to the appropriate ratio. Blut puts some options in too.
Whether rhe complication of doing it is vianle and financially positive only they can answer.
Attending a home match with 7k crowd would be weird (apart from Div4 on a February midweek..)

Complete the South Stand upgrade which increases capacity by 5,500. No away fans gives you another 3,000. Space out the 27,000 ST holders into the 37-38,000 seats. Job done!

However, in all seriousness, I do think away fans will be banned throughout next season to prevent large numbers of people migrating from one area to another every Saturday largely either on buses or public transport.

Not sure what the socially distanced capacity would be but assuming no away fans etc let's say 7k dotted around the ground meters apart and socially distanced pre match pub systems and weird queuing systems to get in to avoid the cramped turnstiles and concourses etc...

Doesn't sound like a great experience to me but especially at lower levels even the small amount of cash made from it will help

The pubs are open, nobody in them is social distancing, so what difference is there opening football grounds up?

The likes of Rochdale can't survive at 50%. They need a nigh on sell out 23 games a season to survive.

Logistically a lot of planning needs doing around this but I’d hope we can see a situation that allows maybe 10,000 in at the start of the season or very soon after and subsequent regular reviews of that to allow more when it’s safe to do so.

As others have said I’m certain it will be home fans only which will also help

Aside from the away fans moving across the country, football grounds are safer as it's essentially outside, so a much less dangerous environment than indoors.

I see where you are coming from with banning away fans, but then do you ban Blades fans that don't live in Sheffield?

There isn't one. Pubs are open, they're indoors where the thing spreads, we either see a huge jump by the end of the season, or we don't, and the concept of behind closed doors is done

Exactly. There’ll be more people in pubs up and down the country then there will be in football grounds.
Once one does it we will, we’re just sheep with a spineless government. Come on Germany.

They were on about having 10k at Wembley for the FA Cup final, so if that's happening that'll shed some light on how it'd work, spacing wise. The players and staff have 3 seats between them I think, but I've seen them sat right behind each other so that's not particularly distant.

If 5 seats get you 2 people we could have roughly 12.5k if my maths checks out.

Any legwork by the club to get families sat together etc would increase that.

No as they won't be travelling en mass every week in the same environment and all season ticket holders can be traced, with who they sit near.
What you don't want is a return to nearly 100,000 fans travelling all over the country on public transport twice a week and the easiest solution for all is just to ban away fans for the season.

Just allow everyone in for the first few games (no masks allowed) then the crowd will find a ‘natural balance’ as the season goes on🤔

I don't think the issue is with fans in the ground, other than maybe on the concourses before and at half time.

Outdoor events are relatively safe and I think fans in open stands wouldn't be a big issue BUT I think what really does worry the authorities is the prospect of packed pubs, cafes, buses and trains before and after the games and until they're comfortable with that aspect the grounds will remain closed.

Rochdale don't sell out anyway, some of the smaller clubs (ie Wednesday) can cope with a below capacity stadium. Not great but better than nothing.

How do you get to 20% capacity when we sell 26000 season tickets??
Who chooses who's allowed in and who isn't??
I’ll do to save argument and I’ll decide who can go with me and who can’t. Does that seem fair to everyone?

No idea was just putting it out there, maybe don’t sell season tickets, ticket draws for current season ticket holders?

Oooo, could have young ladies with trays round their necks, like yanks do at baseball, serving beers and pies to your seat, now that would be a good idea!!!
