it’s just the 2019 side but with hamer instead of Duffy.
I'm not so sure about that, I much preferred watching Duffy. He was a proper number 10 which is something we don't really have now.

Hamer has 2 more goals than Duffy did that year, but 1 fewer assists (and Gus has played more games), so the numbers are roughly the same as well.

For all the talk of this great squad we're supposed to have (which I don't buy), that 2019 squad had better individuals, despite being generally deemed to be a team that didn't have great individuals.

Can’t disagree tbh, i just think on his day hamer can reach levels Duffy couldn’t. Championship has also evolved a lot since then too.

He also worked his arse off and was so good at winning the ball in the final third...bit of a cross between O Hare and Hamer but probably more effective than both.

------------------Henderson
-------Basham-Egan-O'Connell
Baldock-Norwood-Fleck-Stevens
----------------------Hamer
-------------Sharp-Mcgoldrick

Subs: Cooper, Burrows, Anel, Souttar (deffo counting him), Arblaster, Peck, Duffy, Campbell, Moore

I don't think Hamer works in the Duffy role. All short passes and keeping the ball moving. O'Hare is a much closer comparison.

Cooper for Henderson. Otherwise the 2019 side.

Henderson
Stevens
Basham
O'Connell
Egan
Baldock
Duffy
Norwood
Fleck
McGoldrick
Sharp

This current team doesn't even compare.
Yet this team are still probably going to beat the points total of the 18/19 team - even after these last 3 defeats.

Yet that team didn't bottle automatic promotion five/six games from the end of the season.

And then continued to storm the Premier League.
