It's purple ffs and if you think it's blue I'd give specsavers a ring!!
I reckon it's a combination of some people perceive colours differently plus monitors needing colour calibration, dodgy photos and small smartphone screens. At the match last night it looked purple - as did the change shorts. I'm buying it - first ever away shirt for me.

What's more - I predict this will be the worst selling United kit of the last 20 years. Because people will perceive it as "blue" - no matter what colour palette mr bromtom provides us with to the contrary.

If it's going to be the worst selling kit it'll be because no fucker will be able to get it because of Adidas shitting the bed, not because of how it looks.

We've had far worse. *cough* Knock off Norwich 2013/14 *cough*

The very average template aside, I absolutely love it. Definite future classic, especially with the drei streifen down the sides. Colour is excellent.

And I hate blue.

The sponsor on both the home and away 'moody' photoshoots were photoshopped on as, at the time of the shoot, we hadn't agreed to anything regarding sponsor.

Sponsor on back looks awful - Foxy, you should be ashamed!

I'm not a fan of purple like, but personal opinions on colour aside, is it only me that thinks it's a bit of a joke that our sponsor has dictated the colour of our kit? It's bad enough that the kits are now plastered with advertising allover the place but this is now giving them even more power.

I know that money talks and all that but it's becoming a sad state of affairs how much it's ruling the game. It won't be too long before a club changes it's name to suit a sponsor.

We had all Yellow away shirts from 84 to 93 I'm sure this wasn't coincidence and was at the request of Laver.. I think this is subtle enough to bypass people. If it was Easy Jet ok I would agree but this is fine in my book

Agreed, live it's obviously purple, but watching the ifollow highlights on my laptop looks quite blue.

Seriously though, anyone who thinks it's blue needs their eyes testing. It isn't the best away shirt we've had but it certainly isn't the worst, I'll probably buy it. Looked better with the purple shorts last night though than it does with white.

It's reight good. I 'ant bought an away kit in years, but I'm definitely getting that one. Clean, clear and classic. Be good to see Billy slot in a hatrick at Elland Road wearing that.

Weather some posters think it'll be the worse selling kit ever I'll still be wearing it in Spain along with the home kit, and so will my boys!

To be honest, even if it was blue, so fucking what?

Truth. Playground cooties rubbish.

As people have said, no one team has a monopoly on a colour, if we released a blue and white striped away kit with Chansiri and a cross eyed owl on it then I'd be concerned, but other than that, if it's stylish and got a United badge on it I'm happy.

Totally with you on this borbokis. So much shit going off in the world and in many folks lives at the moment, yet people on here are throwing their toys out of their prams and hammering the club because of their chosen colour of a fucking football shirt.

22 pages of debate since this thread was created and as usual, once the club has revealed a new kit for the coming season, we get the predictable and childish comments about it being blue and hence, a piggy colour, so people wont be buying or wearing one.

Well so what? The purple away shirt is a welcome change from the trend of choosing variations of black which has been a regular feature over the last few years. Well done to Sheffield United for choosing to go with a fresh and bold, yet simple, design.

The home and away kits have been revealed and wont be changed despite the bewildering opinions of some on here. It would be great to now close this thread and await next May when all this shit starts up again.

I keep looking at the unveiling photos of the kit with white shorts and socks, then at the Rotherham game kit, with purkle shorts and socks, and I'm thinking, we don't usually have a short n sock change with an away kit!! We usually wear the home kit bottom half, which would look fucking ridiculous!!!
So im thinking, is there going to be a white and purkle shirt arriving too!?!?
Or is it just me hoping!!!!????

what would we wear at Burnley or Wet Sham?

White and Purkle, it is!
We will be playing Villa not Burnley or West Sham!

I imagine we'll wear either home or away.

Our home shirt is VERY black and their away shirt is black so clearly doesn't clash with Claret. It's debatable whether the ref on the day will allow red n white stripes. He should as we have played Villa many times before in our home kits.

I'm not sure we would clash in all purple either. It's the shorts n socks that would need changing.

Why should I?

Because when you work for a company or organisation , that makes you responsible for everything that goes on within it. Top to bottom. Even if it happened before you joined, or before you were born. So I'm led to believe on here, anyway.

Without trawling, anybody know when the shirt will be on sale in the club shop? I like it, i won't buy one for me but the little uns will have it for our family holiday!
