Do we know if there's the possibility that it won't be available before its actually needed? And if so, why?
I suspect it's because we aren't exactly addidas's top priority when it comes to knocking out shirts...
That said I'm sure some of our Avec ones had a Sunderland label in it - so I'm not sure if we can complain or not.
Seems odd they aren't releasing it for sale tho.
Who said they aren't releasing it for sale? Can't see that happening.
I think they beat us in that shirt at the lane early in the 91/92 season. 1-3 iircAnd Notts County...

I'm picturing that game in my head but I think it was later - 94/95 season - if my incredibly flaky memory serves Flo got sent off for a high boot early on and they had Tony Agana playing for them.I think they beat us in that shirt at the lane early in the 91/92 season. 1-3 iirc
One I'm thinking of is 17 Sep 1991. Lost 3-1 at home to them.I'm picturing that game in my head but I think it was later - 94/95 season - if my incredibly flaky memory serves Flo got sent off for a high boot early on and they had Tony Agana playing for them.
PS - just checked old programmes - definitely from that game - second game of the season, both at home, beat Watford 3-0 and thought we'd piss the league, then back to earth with a bump and a 3-1 home defeat

And the 1 we scored than night was about as blatant a handball as you can get by Agana! One I'm thinking of is 17 Sep 1991. Lost 3-1 at home to them.

Kit designs are sorted over a year in advance. Next seasons is already quite far into development.I suspect the delay is due to liaison with Adidas over what other teams away kits are, so that we get something slightly different. If you look at most of the other Adidas kits released so far - Ipswich, Birmingham, Forest etc they are just bog standards templates. So maybe by biding our time and taking our turn in the pecking order we might get something more pleasing.

Just noticed these Orlando Pirates shirts, three stripes on the shoulder reminiscent of that Liverpool away shirt from the 90's

I meant 2018/19 season.
You'd hope it would be 'developed' by now surely
Saw them yesterday. Lovely aren't they. Very retro
I have no clue how the process works, but I have been wondering whether the initial choice has been vetoed for some reason and they have gone back to the drawing board. I can't really think of any other plausible reason to delay the launch past the point where people are buying their shirts for hols/Test Match attendance. Well, other than simple incompetence.....

Shit. Just. Got. Real.Adidas statement
"Unfortunately we have been unable to provide enough stock to meet fan demand for the new 17/18 home and away kit due to an issue with the adidas ordering process.
We are working as fast as possible to supply Sheffield United FC with a new delivery across our full size range.
adidas and the club will update supporters on when the new kits are likely to arrive.
We would like to apologise to any disappointed fans."
Is this why the away kit unveiling has been delayed?
Poor either way that a brand of their stature can't meet the demand of a 2nd tier football club ffs
Shit. Just. Got. Real.
Heads will roll
