If thats the teamsheet you were given, how do you get that as a 4-5-1 under Wilson? he hates 4-5-1, youd see that under KB/MA and assume the worst, id like Willo in the middle and Monty out right like he used to, pressuring for throw ins in the final third when deployed that way, very effectively by NW

I'd like Monty right out too!

Hilarious stuff - is it a wind-up? Pressurising for throw ins? Not bad work for at least 10k a week but to be fair to you, it is pretty much all he can do.

I know from bitter experience that going in the Clipper, whilst fine before the game, isn't the best idea after the game...

Same team that ended Tuesday's game named as starting today.

Bench - Harriott, Porter, NML, Philly, Long

Delighted, Dunc.

Someone might buy him now. Strike while the irons hot.

Lee Williamson scored one and made two in 15 minutes on Tuesday. Where was the fuss about that?

still unbeaten,so we cant grumble at 10 points from 4 league games.
anybody would take that in ANY division.

Still unbeaten, Tranmere difficult place to go, I'm happy with the point, Charlton also drew and Notts County lost to the pigs, so they've done us a favour - onwards and upwards, great point!

If you haven't sen it yet, it was an absolute cracker from Monty. Referee had a stinker, Quinny got bettered all over the place and then started to retaliate. Good thing he was taken off. Not our best performance of the season so far. Decent first half, but seemed to sit back on the lead and defended too deep. They have several giants in their team, which meant there was a lot of hoofing from their players. I was nervous at every corner and then they go and score from a short one. Thought Simmo handled well today. Doyle wasn't as effective as Tuesday, but Willo got stuck in.

Quinny got bettered all over the place and then started to retaliate. Good thing he was taken off.

I was saying for a while we should take him off to protect him.

His retaliation was actually sticking up for Matt Lowton rather than himself, after the cheating arse Robinson had body checked him off the ball.

It's just like watching ...... Holland in 74!?

Decent result today, despite a far from vintage performance. Draw probably a fair result, though they may feel they edged it. We were in command for large parts, but second half was all Tranmere and Simmo was the busier of the two keepers.

First half was a decent game of football. I was surprised at the standard and thought Tranmere looked good on the deck. Both teams passed well. United played neat football, but did not really threatened. I was encouraged by the way that we looked comfortbale on the ball and built from the back (Simmo throwing out). Simmo kept us in it first half with an excellent save (saved a free header at the back stick with his feet) and then Monty gave us the lead with a screamer. What a strike! Did not realise how far out it was until I saw the highlights on the tv this morning.

Second half was awful. United were poor, as we sat back. We had no real outlet and they kept the pressure on. They had big lads and threw some more big lads on. It just became an arial bombardment (that Blackwell would have been proud of). We generally dealt well with it, with Simmo handling well and Maguire and Collins battling hard and winning headers. However I felt a goal was coming and Tranmere deserved something from the game. It was a cheap goal to lose though. Caught sleeping with the short corner and then not organised in the area. Free header, which was disappointing, but it had been coming.

What a shame Cressy did not do better at the end. I don't think he realised how much time he had when he latched onto a poor back pass, but fluffed it. Perhaps he was a yard short, but he went to ground and his effort was tame.

Tranmere were dirty and cynical. Quinn got nailed twice in the first half, as they singled him out. One (in front of the dug out) was a shocking challenge (studs up) and could have been a straight red. Robinson should have gone after a bad challenge in the first half (he went for Quinn and missed both man and ball), a string of fouls and dives and then reacting to everything. I thought they spent a lot of time diving and tring to get our players booked and wound up, in addition to their persisting fouling. Referee was very poor and let them off scott free.

Overall good result. I would have take 1 a piece before the game (though I was disappointed we conceded after being in front). Like Holland in 74 ;) we played some great football and got our noses in front. The goal was like Arrie Hahn's strike against Italy in 78. However we thought we had won, sat back and deservedly did not win the game.

Simmonsen responded very well yesterday and put in a solid performance. He saved us in the first half with a good save with his feet (very Kenny-esque) and then did well second half. He handled high balls well, command his area and held on to several tricky shots. He had a busy game and looked assured and confident. Nice to see after his poor performance on Tuesday :)

Can't disagree with any of that analysis Olle. That sums up the game exactly for me. Tranmere's game plan was simple: kick United off the park, specifically Quinn. Horrible, cynical scouse bastards. Again we were too guilty of staying stuck in third gear, which invited them on to us, and as you say, we paid the price.

Just one rant from me though: We were sat in the bottom left hand corner near the front, and to our left, there was a copper filming United fans all the way through. What a complete and utter waste of tax payers money. If call me dave wants to cut the deficit, start by sacking cunts like that.

Collecting "intelligence" I suppose. I like how they completely ignored the Danny Dyer wannabe's to our right too.

Policing of football matches isn't paid out of general taxation. The clubs pay for it.

Just a though, but perhaps they were filming it because tranmere's CCTV wasn't good enough?

You might be right about the CCTV issue but the copper is still paid for by the taxpayer at the end of the day. Did anyone have any problems with the seats? The row in front of us came away and sagged down, and when we checked our seats they were rusting underneath with sharp metal bits hanging off. H&S would have had a field day if they had seen them.

Can you read? All policing costs for footballing matches are paid for by the club.

And why sell tickets with seat numbers on and then tell fans to sit anywhere, just causes aggro.

Sighs! And yes Ollie you were heard on Radio Sheffield. I knew after 2 minutes who it was. You are getting terribly predicatable. Now how do I put this without being insulting......Not your best bit of PR

The back of my seat was cracked and hanging off. As North Yorks says, why not just stick to the seating plan?

And there was me thinking that you were warming to me!?

Decent first half, poor second half. Robinson should have been sent off and unfortunately he was substituted for the bloody goalscorer! Good support from blades yesterday. Its been too long since I have been to a game, must try and get to more!!
