Howard. A useless overweight show pony still living off the glory of the goal he scored at anfield. Had tonsilitis since we signed him.

Hendrie. Why was he so popular? he was good at warming up and making come on gestures to the crowd and not alot else. 26 appearances in total says alot about his fitness and disciplinary record too.

Wish it had worked out for Sharp. But he couldn't make the step to the top half of the championship. Can't fault his commitment and endeavour though. Hope he does well at Donny

Don't agree with you at all Hendrie could have been the driving heart of our midfield but blackie could not be bothered with him, he was a player that was proven at premiership level.

Completely agree with you about howard... useless.

Let's not forget Carney either.

I mean, let's not forget that he was a waster moved on, not in a 'we will remember him forever in our hearts' sort of way...

The difference between Howard and Hendrie is that Howard was given chance after chance and outstayed his welcome. Hendrie was never really given a chance and on the odd occasions he did play he looked more enthusiastic than Howard/Quinn (which, to be honest, isn't that hard).

he'll probably do alot better in holland. not that he could do much worse.

hendrie's chances were limited, but the chances he did get he didn't take. considering he was on a very big wage we're better off without him.

Glad Howard's gone, great deal coming the other way, he was nothing but a big time charlie who never made it to the big time, one good goal for the dingles and the one good game for us, lied last week about being fit, cost us 45mins with even less of a midfield than normal, I'm sure if he had tonsilitis at half time he had it before the game.

Carney looked good on the ball but not much good getting it.

Billy, like us all wanted him to do well, it just didn't happen, he had a lot of chances, maybees when he comes back.......

Brombs, not a bad player, just never showed his early form, only ever going to be cover, never that confident with his ability

Hendrie, showed flashes, never given a decent run, cost a sh*t load of money to warm our bench

a great day, thank god we've shifted the garbage. now quinny, let's see some quality.

Couldnt disagree with that statement any more.

Agreed, he didnt have the best of times at BDTBL, however this was due more to the way we play than his lack of ability to compete at this level.

Totally agree flawed. Howard had a great debut for us and then not much apart from a goal at Reading last season. Squinn blows hot and cold yet plays regular. Don't think Hendrie was such a poor player in comparison to the 2 afforementioned not to have played more for us. Strange makes you wonder if Hendrie upset somebody ?

A good day's business. Well done to Blackie and all those involved. I'm always a bit dubious when I hear excuses for players who fail to perform that it is because of the way we play or that we don't play to their strengths. A good player will impose himself on the game regardless. It was often said about Howard that we didn't utilise his strengths because we bypass midfield. The truth as most people realise is that he isn't good enough. I imagine he'll play a handful of games for Reading before being dropped to the bench as the management and fans there realise they've been 'sold a pup'. I can't see them holding onto him as he isn't good enough for a club of their ambition. Harper is class though and has always stood out whenever I've seen him play. Strong, athletic, tall, good shot. A better midfielder in every sense. Hendrie flattered to deceive. Past his best, capable of the odd good performance in five and no loss. Jamie Ward is better than Billy. Probably best all round for Billy to get a run of games in a fairly decent football side to see how he fares. A midfield four of Treacy Harper Monty and Cotterill is quality. Exactly what we've been clamouring for. Evans and Ward up front. Quinn, Henderson, Reid as back up. Sorted.

I remember Howard playing for us away at Watford last year, we won but he was awful. No prizes for guessing who the Watford manager was...

Brendan Rodgers..? I heard him interviewed after we beat Reading last week and he has a strong Scottish accent. I also read in a match day programme last season that Howard is an avid Scotland fan and is eligible to play for them. Maybe they have some links family, friends or whatever. Will be interesting to see how he does perform for them.

Scrap that. This is from a Reading paper: "Howard, who used to play for Sheffield United's local rivals Barnsley, had fallen out of favour at Bramall Lane. He is well known to Rodgers from his early playing days at Swindon Town and Southampton."
