Says it all really............will it change any time soon? Is there much we can do about it? Clough blames a lack of height as a key issue, time to put them on the rack and stretch them all?

One dominant baller winner and one quicker player (A League one version of Kilgallon and Morgan?) would do me nicely.

Butler and Collins were too slow as a pair. I saw them together at Burton, York and against Mansfield and the lack of pace was glaringly obvious each time.

They would solve the height issue no doubt about that. As a pair they would create plenty of other problems too though.

Maybe looking for a centre midfielder over 5 foot 5 this summer could be a decent idea too.

We miss Maguire and Collins, this season showed just how good they were. We need to find a new pair at the back, even though Basham and McEverly have done decent enough, I would have to say its a massive step down from last season.

We'd have conceded a lot less goals this season with a pairing of Bulter and Collins, and scored a few more from set plays. A lack of pace at centre back isn't a killer especially at this level, good centre halves will read the game, not rely on pace to get them out of bother. Maguire and Collins between them lacked pace, but were still the best pairing in the division for three seasons.

Im not convinced by Turnip in goal either, hopefully Howard is coming back soon.

Maguire and Collins were good because we defended so deep to compensate for our lack of pace. It stopped us putting any pressure on teams or pressing from the front. It still does to a degree even now and often leaves the striker isolated.

I agree pace isn't essential, but it's certainly helpful to play a more modern, faster, high pressing style of football.
