The last time we didn’t finish a league season we’d got off to a flyer. We were widely tipped to win the league that season and then a bloke named Adolf decided to invade Poland the twat.
This time around we were tipped for relegation at the start of the season but we’re actually on the verge of a European spot and some market in blumming a god forsaken region of China have bought it to a standstill because they eat bats. Never far from controversy are we.

We did have a good World War I, though. 1914-15 season went ahead, and we won the Cup.

The season immediately after the war - 1945/46 the football season didn't get started fully. But we won the Football League North. Probably never properly recognised.

There has been talk about the FA Cup been shelved this time but ironically the FA Cup was played that season. Derby County were the winners.

If it hadn't been for the war (remember Jimmy Hagan's first full season was the 1939/40 season) we could have dominated the early 1940's.

This time and once football resumes let's make the most of what CWAK have developed and go for it.

My dad used to talk about the young team we had at the out brake of war.
Just promoted and a young Jimmy Hagan in a potential league winning team.
The years lost ripped the best years away from them , at least two were killed in action.
Left back called Carr who came from Walkiey was killed at Dunkirk,my dad new him as he came from Walkley as well.
He also was at Dunkirk ! Luckily he came back hense me being here.
I think the other player killed in action was Hampson.

Both photos taken in 1939. Joe Carr and Harry Hampson who lost their lives in WW2 are in there. A lot of players in the 1939-40 photo looking worried.

Top notch SB, any photos with J.H. on are welcome at our house. I see your point on the 39-40 photo, although it's probably "can we satisfy the supporters expectations" rather than the impending 'fisty-cuffs' with the Germans. After all we were 1-0 up at half time in that match.

I see it was a good old Sheffield double with us beating Leeds away 1-0 and the pigs losing at the sty by the same score
