The day our dream ended , I was watching the match on tv , and when Coutts went down I instantly knew he was in trouble , I got a sick feeling in my stomach and despite winning the match the fans and players were not celebrating at all. It was a strange feeling winning but feeling down , we all knew we had lost a major player in our team . We will be alright though won't we ?? We have loads of quality players was the hope we clinged on to . We're not a one man team ?
It turns out we were a one man team , it took us till Bristol city match until we started to look good again and what happens , fleck gets sent off ffs .
I do believe we will get back on track but it won't happen for a few more matches .

My prediction is that IF we beat Wendy at home (and players like ched are coming Back plus if we get a couple of good signings) this will be the match when we can turn it around, I just hope it won't be to late and we can hold on for a play off place .

Brooke’s out as well.........that’s taking the piss.
I my opinion Wilder needs a plan B under these circumstances,eleven men behind the ball because we have individuals who are not good enough on their own and defending in numbers is the only way we will get a point at Villa.
It’s not a disgrace to keep things tight and wait for a break.

Coutts was the catalyst for our team and his injury has had an effect on at least 6 players in the team who he plays with. If we are to carry on playing the way we were then we need a certain kind of player like Coutts in the window. Someone like Coutts ,Huddlestone ,Murphy who can galvanise the other players and be an option for them. The prince must back Wilder in January as a couple of others are needed too but with Coutts back in the summer a top class premier league loan would be our best option. Charlie Adam has been mentioned ,hopefully he wont get many other offers and we can afford him on a season long loan ,we need someone of his calibre in the short term. He could be our Stuart McCall/Gordan Cowans. Up to you Prince ,lets see what your made of.

It is a hugely difficult decision coming up on who to bring in for midfield. Every type of signing in January runs a high risk of not making both an immediate and longer term impact. Would Charlie Adam be a new Gordon Cowans or a new Dean Hammond? At least we trust the current regime to have a good shot at getting it right.

I agree also about the atmosphere in the changing room being different and not as vibrant etc as Coutts is a big , well liked character in there

TIme to dig in Blades. Hodgey put things very well. All I can add is but for small momentary lapses in defending we should have chalked points against Fulham, Brum was a game we simply couldn't break them down but that happens at every level. Had it not been for a reckless tackle we'd have wiped Bristol aside and a bit of naivety with the subs lost us the match. No complaints with Milllwall and Preston defeats.

We'll get over this blip and make a real challenge for a top 6 place.

And your point?

We're all aware of what happened in this game, and yes, we conceded 5, but on the night we were, quite simply, not quite good enough. I suppose it's all down to how you analyse a performance and what you take from this. I think most Blades, whilst far from happy, also saw a team who weren't prepared to lie down and accept defeat. You seem to be suggesting something other than this, so perhaps you can throw light on what your post meant.

He was really missed until we got a proper RWB in baldock back into the team as basham wasn't cutting it there. When we have fleck and Duffy back in the middle I think we will be back looking much better. So basically the team that played, and hammered, Bristol City.

I think people are going overboard with what happened against Preston, can't expect much else with our first team midfield out of action

Coutts has become a better player without playing a game since 17-11-17, he’s no Pirlo but he allows good players to get on the ball and play as he links the back 3 to the rest of the team in the system we play...since his injury we’ve played more long aimless balls since the whole of last season
