14pts away from autos, 11 pts away from play-offs.

Southampton, Charlton and West Brom have all won just one of their last 6 matches. All the wins came against the same team. Guess who?

This is the sort of fact that has undermined any hope we might have had.

Presuming we go on the run needed to climb the table the gd should take care of itself. Win at Millwall and it's on again.Unfortunately we'll be without Bamford Ogombe and Sumare. On the plus side Tom Davies is presumably still fit.

Oxford after that, who shocked everyone by winning at Leicester yesterday. Would have preferred to face them a couple of weeks ago.

We may be within reach of 6th but there's a gap developing between 5th and 6th. We could be battling about 10 teams for the final play off place.
We've managed all season without ogombe so shouldn't be too big a miss

These are the results that have really irritated me (and probably all Blades fans). To have lost all three is quite frankly ridiculous. The best of the 3 (Southampton) are no great shakes and very beatable, whilst the other two are poor and there for the taking. I get thwt there was mitigating circumstances with the Charlton result but the bottom line ia that we should not be getting 2 players sent off in a game. Tanganga gave the ref the opportunity to send him off even if it was a poor refs decision, and we should have been well in front anyway. Watching that game i thought the continued missing of chances at nil nil might come back and bite us on the arse on the day. And so it proved. Another 3 points chucked away to go with the 3 points which were there to be had at WBA and Saints. We should have at least got 4 points from those, possibly at least 6 and those points on the board would make a huge difference to our chances of the POs. Now the problem is the margin for error to finish in the top 6 is now really slim.

I think ww have to get a decent result away at Millwall now and the consistent winning run has to really start now if we are to get past the traffic. Its getting to the point of now or never re a consistent winning run for the PO positions.

19 points away from autos but only 8 points away from play offs so still doable.

We are, however, running out of time so we need to become more consistent whilst hoping injuries and suspensions don't derail us.

I'd like to thank people for their comments and opinions - let's keep them coming.

I keep saying since before Ipswich when we had 11 home games and 8 away games, that it you take the traditional win your home games and draw your away ones, this would give us 73 points.

We’ve so far done just that. W3-1, D1-1, W3-1.

Monday will be a test but we do have a good rest before then.

Just need to keep wining the next one.

To add a further angle, what if we replicated last season’s results?

Boro - 3
Pompey - 1
Wednesday - 3
Coventry - 3
QPR - 3
West Brom - 1
Norwich - 1
Birmingham (Luton) - 3
Wrexham (Plymouth) - 3
Swansea City - 3
Bristol City - 3
Hull City - 0
Watford - 3
Blackburn Rovers - 1
Preston NE - 3
Derby County - 3

The record last year for these games was:

P16 W11 D4 L1

That would give us another 37 points. Final total would be 76.

That would have been 4th last year and 5th the year before.

73 would have got you 5th last year and 6th the prior one.

We sneak into play offs over taking Wrexham to ruin their 'Hollywood fairytale' making them cry.... we have to then play Frank Lampards Coventry City, who managed to fuck up autos and are on a downer, we dump them out and make them cry.. we then face Hull in play off Final and smash them at Wembley as pay back for FA cup semi final... make them cry & we beat pigs 5-0 at home and relegated them on the way to this amazing end of the season... oh & make them cry too.

It's not impossible, we're a long way off and we do need to be far more consistent.

Probably need to look at it in month blocks.

Start of Feb's Table toppers Boro and Coventry both this month as well as bottom prop-ers Pompey, Pigs and Oxford as well. We've started the month well with that Oxford win. If we can win against Pompey and pigs, get at least a draw against Boro and Cov, then we're in a good place. QPR to finish the month, we'll have a better idea where we and they are and we'll know if we have a chance by the end of Feb.
