The optimal time to recruit from international teams is before they advertise their quality in a major tournament to an audience of billions, not afterwards

But as an aside, I watched the Ivory Coast beat Scotland a couple of months ago. They had a pacy short winger, seemed to play well, think he's still quite young. Playing in Switzerland. Probably worth a punt

I’d totally forgot we signed (and sold) him! Just seen he’s played 60 times for Basel and scored 21 goals, glad he is doing well. Possibly a case of someone who would have been a decent Championship player for us in a better team than the relegation one?
