'Fantastic' fans put Blades 11th in gates table

Sheffield United are set to finish a creditable 11th in the Premiership attendance table.

A current average Premiership attendance of 30,578 has landed United 11th spot in the top flight – beating top-ten finishers Bolton, Blackburn, Reading and Portsmouth.

Promotion, a record number of 22,000 season ticket holders and capacity crowds for some games saw the turnstiles clock up more than 550,000 entries into Bramall Lane.

The club is expecting another sell out for the final home game against Wigan on May 13 with less than 2,000 seats remaining, mostly in the Halliwell’s Upper Tier.

United manager Neil Warnock said: “I am very proud to be managing a team like Sheffield United, especially with such fantastic support behind us. The players have given everything and so have the fans.

“They have created a great atmosphere, helped drive great performances and watched great results. It was a fantastic start to season with home game sell out against Liverpool and we’ve not looked back since."

United have won seven and drawn six of their 18 home games and Warnock claims: "The crowds have helped the club build up a reputation as a tough place to play at."

Crowd at the lane this season has been great.
